These are figher bombers. Barges can only be attacked by fighter bombers. No bomber an naval attack will ever attack barges.

oh I see! It seems I´m lacking even some basics... [X(] And I´m lacking of fighter bomber squadrons too...

I do not think this in the manual. One of these little details you learn from the forum. Is there no bomber fighter plane for the Japanese?

unfortunately, not enough torpedoes could get reloaded in time for this juicy TF. So only one AK sunk, along with another DD (and one more damaged).

Put the 2E allied bombers on Naval attack at 100 ft altitude. Hudsons and B25s, especially the later models, will shred barges like Jesse Ventura with a chain gun.

Oh yes there is indeed...! Just two types are FB (Ki-45 KA1b Nick and A6M5-B Zeke), any they become available in 1943, and the best thing is: you receive 3 squadrons at all (2x Nick & 1x Zeke) with almost no replacements from the "pool"...

So that´s it! (but to be honest, I think its historical accurate that way so I don´t want to complain too much)

Ah yes the 100ft. was the secret not the fighter bomber. I recalled it wrong. Just tested it with nice results.

aside from the barge fiasco and an allied bombing raid at Shortlands harbour that sunk a few APs while unloading the overall situation is pretty calm right now. Both sides have shift down a gear it seems. Who knows what will come next...?!

Time to contemplate

today the weather cleared up and the allied heavies took off for a raid on another small (2AP) convoy in the Guadalcanal area. Though both APs were sunk from 15,000ft it came not for free... My CAP did it´s job (as best as possible against those able-bodied a/c monsters) and 15 enemy planes are reported lost today, 8 of them B17s alone... One month´s supply crashed into the jungle [:)]

The question is how long it will take for the Japanese to replace a TK an AP and a PC. I think it will be much more than a month. Not to forget that the Japanese lost a couple of fighters to bring down the B17s.

don´t worry about my replacements. They´re fine! Tokyo certainly is well aware of the importance of it´s southern possessions... see the free intel [;)]

They even send more MLs upon my avail, since they heard about rumors that FDR recently had once more an outburst of fury when he learned from the disastrous impact these japanese mines made at Irau and elsewhere... [:D]

last few turns were also rather calm ones, with only minor action. The Allies continue to hit barges and stricken APs on their way home with search bombers at 100ft.
Two days ago a small Para echelon was dropped at Rossel Isl. to recon my strength there. Though they were killed next turn and a number of Dakotas were shot down by AA during the drop, I suspect something could be underway in this vicinity... US shipping in the GG-Woodlark area still increases and Frank has brought up major elements of his fleet (BBs along with cruisers and destroyers) as cover screening his vulnerable transports.

Is another holiday paradise about to be contested?
