Argh! I ordered the CVEs out but another one got nailed on the way. I did opine before that the historic use of CVEs, ASW, just leads to sunk CVEs. And so it has come to pass. There are two ASW TFs on patrol and the CVEs, so a pretty significant ASW force.
On the plus side they did get results, I see bomb hit after bomb hit messages, plus the efforts of the ASW TFs have been pretty solid. I think they might have even accounted for a dozen or so submarines potentially in their support of the Babeldaob operations.
And of course nothing even more valuable, like one of the many BBs that support the invasions, has been hit. But I dunno. CVEs are still CVs, losing them hurts. Even if I got 3 more just arrived at Rabaul...
