"While it is vaguely conceivable that the Turkoman, being at best of a somewhat Barbaric nature, might pursue this type of aggressive policy, we experianced a sense of shock that the French court, who in the past have at least had some pretentions of Culture & Honour, should follow the lead of such an uncivilised nation. "
The Swedish Monarchy can be forgiven for their perception of the Turkish being "barbaric".
Considering the Turkish Empire has a significantly higher culture rating then the far Northern Swedish States can only indicate that their isolation from the rest of the world has left them bereft of the gentle and cultured nature of our Turkish allies! [:)]

Russian turn 34 in.
I THINK that a surprise attack also lowers your standing with minor neutrals as well as a slightly higher cost in glory points.
Wow, things are getting confusing in the wars. What we need is a grand battle involving all the powers. "No! The Russian troops can not advance against THAT regiment, its Turkish. Or is it Spanish? Go after those troops over there. Hopefully, they are French." Meanwhile, the Austrians get to shoot everyone! [:D]

On a more practical note, the CoG PBEM community being fairly small, players that habitually Sneak attack/Backstab/Sit on the fence/or are generally Trecherous in Gameplay/?nature? DO get noted [:D]

How on earth did Saxony ask France for protectorate status?
On the previous turn her attitude towards France was -500 or so, and in the +ve 1000's for Prussian and Russia.
Is it just pure lottery ??

I must say I am quite displeased by Saxony's decision. Very strange. But oh well. My army isn't beaten just yet and some of the French were on the run for at least a bit

I'm speculating that the Saxon's went the way the did because the Austrians didn't have a container army within 4 of Saxony. Then I suspect that maybe because the Prussians were allied to the Austrians is why they went with France. Then I would speculate that the they didn't go with the British because they have an enforced peace with the Prussians.
Ok, now I'm totally confused! I do know that it seems the more conflicts that occur, the more likely that a minor will declare for a protector. [&:]

Dear all,
Austria has had a technical problem and is asking you for a turn rerun. I have had sent two copies of orders. The second one was created by opening the first and adding or reassuring myself of a depot add. For some reason that has cancelled all my move orders and that is in this situation particulary devasting error for the Austrians. I wasn't aware of this "feature" and I remember seeing light green arrows on my armies at that time. If there is another explanation of why my armies didn't move an inch, when they previously did so without problems (at least one space) do tell me.
I am asking the turn to be reran from my original set of orders not from something I would create right now. I am aware of the fact that you all can veto that and that it is a big favor to ask of but nevertheless I am desparing a bit with the might of three nations eating my territory

HiHi
Just in from work and haven't opened the files as yet, but if it's being rerun from orders already issued and as no one has yet sent in their next turns then I see no prblem there, apart from the fact that we have to wait a bit.
Tom your prob, I'm guessing is to do with messing with the files, as I have suggested elsewhere from both mine & other peoples experiances in both CoG & FoF, WCS files can be a bit ... err, fragile, 'Rule of Thumb' is don't mess with folders or files, possibly a better thing for you to have done was delete the orriginal and then redo the turn, but thats merely my thinking.

HiHi
Not sure on this, maybe I'm misreading the info, but from the post I'm taking it that Tom attempted to re-write a second turn over the 1st ie after the 'End Turn' on the 1st one had been activated, hence my speal above re messing with files.

HiHi
Well then as I see it your 2nd file is as like as not to be buggered for orders then, ie the codeing will be fouled up as you are trying to write over an already finished file, ie after 'End turn'
