The orders are in the mail.
SCTFs have been assigned to hit 2 of the four IJ bases around Hawaii.
Transport screens are set to the west for early warning of CV intervention.
All surface Tfs have been able to get w/in search range w/ only one Tf detected last turn. 2 from the north, four from the south.
My objectives are:
1. Shut down the airfields
a. 2x CA TF, one each from the north and south are set to shell Lahani at 15000yrds AND SET TO PATROL ON SITE TO ATTRACT AVAL AIR ATTACK.
B. One CA TF will shell Kona.
C. One BB TF commanded by Ching Willis (80agression) will cover intercept of expected jap CL TF.
d. 2 more BB TFs are in the area next turn for further adventure.
2. Destroy the IJ surface fleet at Hawaii.
3. Resupply Pearl w/ 150000 supply.
4. Restock pearl w/ 150 fighters then
5. LBA the japs.

FatR
Okay, I've underestimated you. Will need some time to think about the response.
No replay yet. I wonder if FatR has been chewing the bark alittle too long.

I had a sub scout lahani this turn and it hit a mine. What is a good estimate of mines in a hex when a sub hits a mine?
At least one...[:D]

Plan seems to be progressing. Question to readers is :
Should the bombardment TFs be set to range 0 or range 15?

Do you want to have AA left over (15) or not (0) ?

Good question...

Mind you- not that I'm saying a range of 15 is the way to go- but if you go in too close your ships will fire every gun they've got- including AA. There's been a thread about it recently and Michaelm mentioned that one of the main reasons bombardment range was put in the game was to give the player the option of standing off their ships to avoid them depleting their AA ammo during bombardment missions.

Thanks Daniel....
We are wearing each other out. FatR may have the upper hand w/ his betties. But this upcoming turn I am sitting on all his airfields w/ bombardment groups, plus 2 extra at pearl...the only question I have is how well fortified is IJAAF.
FatR found a trans TF exactly as I was splitting the transports up into different hexes and probably killed every one of them w/ the Fuso BG about 6 hexes south of pearl. the HYUGO IS REPORTED SUNK..ALSO TWO OF MY FLEET CAs.
We have a few more surprises for FatR this next turn also. Opsec is in effect.

Mission objectives --pearl:
1. Shut down the airfieldsmarginal
a. 2x CA TF, one each from the north and south are set to shell Lahani at 15000yrds AND SET TO PATROL ON SITE TO ATTRACT AVAL AIR ATTACK.
B. One CA TF will shell Kona.--failed
C. One BB TF commanded by Ching Willis (80agression) will cover intercept of expected jap CL TF.failed
d. 2 more BB TFs are in the area next turn for further adventure.
2. Destroy the IJ surface fleet at Hawaii.sucess
3. Resupply Pearl w/ 150000 supply.failed
4. Restock pearl w/ 150 fighters thenfailed
5. LBA the japs.failed
Probably a bad Idea. Did garantee no auto victory in 42.
Lessons learned--
1. to take back hawaii I will need fleet CV cover.
2. Seems slow BBs attract betties.
3. Any ships w/ speed 30 cause betties a hard time getting a hit.
4. Tfs not in position at start of senario. Go ahead was given because of spotted TFs.
5. Pts where 2 days late to the game and should have been a game changer as they could have followed a bombardment TF to mission and provided surface interdictive cover.

So what did happen with the resupply effort?

So what did happen with the resupply effort?
Not what I needed...
I noted this turn the emily sqn which operated off Hilo used bombs instead of torps...only Lahani has torpedos..I wonder if the japs are out of supply on all his islands except Lahani?
Arleigh Burke Flottilla is now in action around Hawaii. All jap bases are being shelled every night w/ different DD combos. Reload in daylight at Pearl as Jap naval air is almost
non existant.
PRU Mitchell recon of Singers notes absence of KB CVs.
Mini KB w/ trans sitting on Umnak, probably picking up 3 division from a zero port. hehehe Cant bomb them because the KB CAP is too thick....
I really enjoyed hitting Pearl while FatR was busy in NorPac.
FatR has ordered the sallies to bomb the airfield which gives my DDs free daylight movement...his skip bombing works on slow ships but the DDs seem to be able to avoid being hit by torps and skip bombing...so the question is can I shell him out of supply before he bombs pearl out of supply?

This happens when you fall below the magic 2x supply requirements. He may already known about it and has more on the way. Having a PBY squadron or two at Pearl should help find the transports.

I noticed the RVF sqn from the copahee rebased w/ a reduced sqn to pearl and then it seemd one of the wildcat sqns did an auto refill of planes w/o my particpation.... Man, what a gut fight.
I will lose the Tennesee. No more big boys, so will the betties attack my DDs next??

10-4-42:
Looks like the japs are going to Kurules w/ 3 divisions. Thought they might go back to pearl.

10-3-42: from last turn:
I flew the Andaman air before the Mini KB arrived ...I lost about 40 planes and IJ lost about 30 planes...Then this turn I flipped all the fighters to night cap...KB showed up next to PB and Capped the hex when my heavies flew in this turn and I did take losses from my LBA heavy fleet.
So this is a one turn old SP.

And this is the last ground attack on Port Blair...note the Mini KB coming up from the south. Looks like I will have to place a 4th division into PB to hold it...

Thought this is a good one...
Wirraway sighting report: 10 Japanese ships at 74,143 near Alice Springs, speed 13, Moving East
Other news:
CL Adelaide detects Japanese Aircraft at 173,102 near French Frigate Shoal
could be the japs are gathering a relief effort soon.
