The Japanese carriers sank another dozen of Allied ships. And once again the US Navy dive bombers didn't perform well. More than 25 planes breaking through the cap and still no hits. [:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]. I have to admit that most of them were rookies.

This could get exciting if KB loiters here a little long [;)]

The battle for the Solomons is about to go on. Or is it all a diversion and will the Allies attack elsewhere????

The Japanese send in a TF with the BB Kongo, BB Hyuga and the BB Yamato. There is little to do to stop them if they would have made it to Kirakira. Fortunately they were spotted and intercepted by my carriers. Unfortunately the battleships were out of the range of the carriers and no torpedoes were fired...

Roi Namur will fall after a while, once my troops are regrouped. Japan has about 10 AV on the Atoll versus 100 AV for the Allies. The carriers moved south and are currently engaged in a battle for Tulagi. I will post this shortly.

The US Army in the Southwest Pacific have launched operation Night train.

Taking Kirakira was very important as this allowed 100+ P47Ds to operate in the battle area. On the other hand the suprise was ruined and the Japanese carriers showed up early.

It seems that the operating is going to be a walk in the park

Sneaked attacked Kusaie with a paradrop and took the Island. Roi Namur is still held by the Japanese troops but will turn soon. Ewinetok and Ponape are the only atolls that hold me from cutting off Truk altogether. The US 6th Army is currently moving 6 divisions into Tulagi which will soon fall. The Japanese air bases of Rabaul, Buna, Tulagi, Lunga and Shortlands have been blasted into pieces by hordes of B25 and B24 bombers stationed at Port Moresby, NE Australia and at Efate. The Burmese front is entirely stuck. The Soviets are in deep troubles...

I'm in total control of the Solomons now. Tulagi has been captured. Guadacanal has been isolated. The Shortlands seems to be poorly defended and the other islands appear to be abandoned.

Currently the main fighting occurs in the central Pacific where the Allies want to move forward and close Truk and the Japanese troops cling on and try to maintain their atolls and retake Kusaie to defend Truk and to stall the Allied advances. In the Solomons no Japanese ships or planes have been spotted in weeks. Except for many submarines. All ports and airfields have been closed (100% airfield damage at Rabaul)

Kusaie has been secured. Seabees are moving in to build up an airfield to neutralize Truk. The Japanese still hold Roi Namur yet I have quite some AV on the island, yet no supplies and therefore am still unable to take the island. I'm rotating units in and out of the atoll to prevent starvation. The Japanese only hold Truk, Ewinetok and Ponape in the area. The rest is mine or abandoned. At the end of 1943 I want to secure this area and start moving in on the next Japanese line of defense...

I have been traveling for work for quite a while and visited among others Port Arthur (currently Dalian). Altough I'm still quite busy for work I'm picking up playing turns and updating the AARs. Not much has happened. I am still fighting for Roi/Namur. Kusaie has been secured. Ponape will be next. Or will it be Ewinetok? Or will the Allies strike somewhere entirely else? The Solomons are also mine. The Japanese have strongholds at Buna, Rabaul and Lunga, but lack any air support and are more or less isolated.
But the Soviets are in trouble and the British are hopelessly stuck in the jungle.

And another carrier down the drain due to the Japanese submarine force. At least three of them made it to the sunk ship list today...

Japanese carrier based aircraft intercepted an Australian convoy, but got severely punished the next day.

While Nimitz is stuck at Roi-Namur, MacArthur is making excellent progress. Even more than in real life he is an absolute hero after his year long stand at the Philippines
