Yes I know all that, but my point is what if in the 70s or 80s we'd done that? Or gone into Greece killing EOKA terrorists in the late 50s/early 60s?

Or for that matter that the Iran/Egypt/Syria decides that the US or UK is harbouring terrorists and sends in a their SF? I'm glad OBL is gone but it's a dangerous precedent to set.
