I'm inclined to agree, I'm afraid supply is an area I don't fully "get" and tend to opt for a strategy of "that looks about ok"
and hope for the best. It is something of a 'black box' for me ... I go with encircling is good (although I'm still not
a 100% sure how good), being cut off is bad and lots of units in a low supply area should be avoided!

Not that it seems to alter my enjoyment any!

Ben Wilkins

I agree. It's fun because it's gamy. For sure. But on the other hand there was a lot of realism in almost all aspects of the game . The screenshots of SPzAbt653 show a disputed city which still has a road connection to its own territory and slowly bleeding to zero. This looks a little bit strange. Probably because you would not expect it intuitively. Without question, the Indian encirclements of cities in the past were always a little bit irritating. These had little impact on the infrastructure of the resource but a lot of troops were bound. Now it is considerably more dynamism in the game. But a surrounding with up to 6 units and a "cutting of" the home territories are two pair of shoes, right? As said, only a belly feeling...[:)]

I think we've got the problem of trying to make rules that by their nature have to apply in all situations, and therefore they make more sense in some circumstances than others.

So if we take a cut-off town in the USSR as an example, it has a maximum strength and supply value of just 3.

I had thought this would be low enough to ensure a swift and easy destruction without requiring too much force, but it seems to be that it isn't the case.

So the potential to reduce the strength and supply value of the resource further if two units are effectively besieging it exists. This should make these cut-off places easier to take.

However, as the presence of two units adjacent to an enemy held resource doesn't just apply in the USSR, it applies everywhere, it means that in this instance some towns in the UK aren't producing as much supply as before.

Which I think is on the whole correct as it represents the enemy shelling the town and impeding its resupply, as they would have been in real life.

This places the onus on the defender to drive the enemy away from the resource.

One question is how much it matters. Reason being that even if the town's strength is reduced, the connection and proximity of another supply source (e.g. Manchester) means that the supply value of a unit occupying the town will only be marginally reduced in most situations.

I do wonder if the solution is more that the resource that has two enemy units adjacent to it should only lose strength in the opponent's turn, so that the rate of reduction is slower. So in this example Oxford would lose strength over time, but not as quickly as it's been happening.

You are presumably right, Bill, balancing the supply is a game-technical mine field. [:D]

Reports not available when playing Allies or Hotseat

This may have been previously reported.

Using latest patch *.10 and hotfix *.b

When I play the 1939 Campaign as Allies, or as both sides using Hotseat, Reports are not available (greyed out).

However, when I play the same Campaign as Axis, Reports are available.

Update:

In my new game as Axis, Reports are also unavailable.

There is still a bug which shows a question mark within the UK.
It is not clear where the units in question should be found, as the question mark disappears on all other zoom levels, and there are no coordinates on the highest zoom level (which, btw. should be changed, at least in my opinion).

I also frequently see those question marks at that zoom level.

Today I once more had the problem that the entire UI buttons didn't react to my clicks (during 1940, 1939 campaign), even though the pop-up windows did appear. Using the Shortcut did work.
And this stayed the same after the Axis turn.

Can Subs with zero supply still effectively raid ?

The other sub in the shot is the 2nd Bde, and it is also at zero supply. Both have been disrupting the convoys for several turns. I parked them at their current locations long ago and left them there.

Possible display path error

Game version 1.00.11a
Scenario 1941

After destroying the unit in Kishinev if I selected the XI corps and stablished a manual path first to Kishinev (point 3) then to point 5 as the game lets me stablish it, but when I click to move the unit it doesn't get there point five.

Have a save if needed.

There are NATO counters, go to options and deselect 3D units, then go back to the game and you must have them.
Hope this helps.

In the 1939 Scenario, I noticed that the AI for the USA is accumulating MPPs. As of Aug 11, 1940 the USA has over a 1,000 unspent MPPs.

As a Human player I usually invest all my MPPs in Research during 1939/1940.

That is likely a bomber acting as a raider on the German convoy from Norway, can you confirm that this bomber doesn't show up in the UK with a question mark?

Sounds like it isn't but I just want to make sure, and if not can you send me a saved turn if you ever see it again?

Thanks,
Hubert

Hi Edwin,

I've just run a test and I'm not seeing the AI doing this... is this for a custom campaign or the default campaign? Also, which release build is this for?

Thanks,
Hubert

It was for the standard 1939 campaign. In V11.

I was playing as the UK and France with Poland, Russia and USA AI controlled.

Hi Edwin

Could you open up the campaign in the Editor and see if the scripts (both AI and the Events) need to be updated?

Bill

I checked, no need to update scripts. I will do another test tonight to see if I can recreate the results.

Must be a bad install. I have no NATO counters to choose from. I see them in the folder but not a choice in the setup. I never had trouble before and I see others with pictures of them.

I'll download and install again.

Thanks for the assist rj1971

If you load the 1939 campaign, use the Tactical Bomber to attack the Polish unit in Krakow, then use the German army to move adjacent to Krakow attack and take the city, it results that there is some terrain conquered by the German army that is not properly displayed, in fact it is still in Polish hands which sholudn't be the case.
This bug is reproducible.

It happens many times, has anyone else encountered this problem with the display of the frontline?
