Yes, there will be a game editor as in DW1.
Just a quick note to let you all know that a small initial alpha test has begun, organized from our veteran DW1 tester group. When we're ready for a beta test, that will be posted here and we'll be recruiting publicly.
You guys should definitely pass along a Beta code to Quill18 or other 4X enthusiast youtubers. Would be great to see a playthrough and get some feedback, attention from the crowds that love the genre!

I don't see why it wouldn't be. Matrix/Slitherine has been making most of their titles available on Steam for a while now, including
Distant Worlds: Universe.

In the first post on this thread they confirm DW:2 as a 2020 release but theres no store page for it on steam yet even though shadow empires does have a steam store page

I bet they got delayed by corona virus and working from home, it wouldn't surprise me if we don't get a release this year

I am pretty keen as well to get my hands on DW2 either the full version or a chance on the beta testers. been watching quietly since last year but I cant keep quiet any longer the anticipation is getting to me.

This is one of the few titles that I would jump headfirst into even an early access version with zero guilt

Hopefully its still coming out this year. From the last time we heard from the main man it seemed like they were well on their way without much in the way of setbacks. Def crossing all fingers and toes lol Hopefully it'll be like a surprised launch or something. That'd be pretty cool
