November 12th

Dean has unleashed the sub swarm on India. the Kido butai ended up spotting a bunch of subs pouring out of the off map a few days ago, so if dean actually is paying attention and reads his operation log he should see that they are being spotted by carrier planes. If that wasn't enough a sub bumped into one of the carrier TF but only spotted the escorts so he knows I have ships up here and probably can put the pieces together to know that I have carriers waiting over here. The TF will retire to Surat north of Bombay and wait. I the mean time I'm gonna move some more float planes over here to conduct anti sub spotting. Once I have some sallies saved up I'll switch some of the k-48 ASW squadrons I have over to the sally.

In the Solomon Islands area Dean swept an empty base with p-38s and attacked shipping with PBYs, but this time I was ready and shot down around 5 flying boats. This is the first time he has swept with p-38s in this area so I'm gonna need to be on my toes.

November 20th
the allies do not appear to have launched a supply run but are still sitting their CVEs in port in Kodiak for some reason. Carrier Division 3 and a BB TF are parked near Attu to potentially intercept any attempts to reinforce Adak.

Main news today was a sweep of Milne bay that came in lower than expected. Ive had a bunch of my fighters flying low cap to counter his high altitude fighter sweeps, but his 10k sweeps are still pretty effective. I'm not losing many pilots buts its still annoying to be losing more planes.

In china a Chinese Corps south of Chungking surrenders.... Dean apparently found a way to starve his own troops of supply outside of the city, as he still have 20k supply in Chungking apparently. I guess this makes my job of cleaning up these troops on the roads south of the capital easier, I just wish they would retreat into the city rather than surrender.

In India I launched a reasonable attack on Karachi today, but it failed to reduce the forts. Either the naval bombardment beforehand did its job, or I got lucky with the dice rolls.

Over in the Solomon's things arnt looking as good, around 90 heavy bombers attacked Port Moresby today and half the planes were on LCAP over Milne bay. Dean wasn't spotting Port Moresby so I guess he just got lucky here, idk. He destroyed around 50 planes on the ground while lossing 3 heavies. I'm gonna fly out the planes that can, and try and evac the rest via small xakLs.

November 26th

Dean and I have been pretty slow the past few days, and Ive been too busy to write in the AAR. After finishing one of my papers I feel I have the leeway to fill you guys in on what happened. In response to Deans intense bombing raids up in the Solomons I've moved over 2 Nick units from India, along with a Tojo unit from China, and 2 Zero sentai from Japan, along with the air support necessary to keep them flying. I also have 4 AA units arriving from India where they are unneeded, along with 3 AA units from Japan.
My plan to evacuate the planes at Port moresby via small Aks was a failure as dean intercepted the small convoy with 2 CLs. Unfortunately for dean both cruisers received 6 bomb hits each resulting in CL concord being left a blazing hulk, and CL Birmingham being heavily damaged but able to escape south. I have a sub waiting along the northern coast of Aussi hoping to pick it off while it retires along with a minefield.

yesterday I got a heavy radio signal in a sea tile that looks suspicious as it was too far west to be heading to Kodiak. In response to the intel I've moved the Shokaku sisters into position west of Adak to prevent a resupply. Today a convoy was spotted that is either heading for Adak or Dutch harbor. 2 sentai of G4M and a sentai of Vals are in position to strike if the convoy goes past Dutch harbor and continues towards Adak. The sighting reported 4 BC and 6 TK..... so it could possibly be an AO tf sent to drop off fuel at Dutch Harbor? TKs are also commonly mistaken for CVEs and vice versa so my recon could potentially be very wrong. We will see tomorrow.

On the ground bombardment of the American troops on Adak went unreplied, so I don't think his troops have much if any supply. Adak is basically a reverse Guadal Canal right now.

You caught me, you can tell its just how I talk since I keep writing it.

in regards to Guadal Canal of the Aleutians, there have not been any attempted pleasure cruises to the island for quite a while. The allied tourism industry to Adak is really suffering right now. Unless the industry gets a covid relief convoy, they are gonna go out of business soon.

December 2nd

R&D for the N1K1 advanced to 2/43 today, and will advance to 1/43 before the end of the month. Once N1K1 is moved to 1/43, 9 factories will go to N1K2 with the engine bonus, and 3 will remain on N1K1. If my math is right, with engine bonus I should be able to advance the N1K2 by 18% per day allowing me to accelerate the airframe by 540% per month. The arrival date of N1K2 is 8/44 so I expect to have the airframe around the time the Hellcat arrives in 4/43.

Another attack went into Karachi, and personally I'm not confident that I can take Karachi unless his supply runs out. Dean occasionally streams his turn to me on discord, and I know for certain that Karachi has 320k supply left from its initial 520k when the siege began. That progress but I dont think these attacks are making much of an impact. I have failed to reduce forts on the last 2 attacks... Todays attack was the largest I've launched thus far will all 17 Divisions stationed in India sans the 55th, participating. I'm gonna pull half my best troops and most my heavy arty out and leave a blocking force entrenched in Karachi, and send the rest to go take Bombay. 6 Divisions plus change in 2x terrain and with some forts should hopefully be enough to keep him bottled up here long enough for me to take Bombay and clean up the rest of Northeast India in the meantime. Once Bombay falls (and thats almost a certainty considering it only has 33k troops in it) I'll leave 2-3 Divisions of the bombay victors plus the tanks for defense of India and ship the rest to defend positions in the SRA, SWPac and NoPac.

Aleutians situation

Ok its been pretty tense between me and dean the past few days. Essentially what happened is bad weather, and my poor choice to take offensive actions in the Bering sea resulted in a carrier engagement and night battle that resulted in the loss of 2 fleet carriers. To be transparent Ill post the full report below for a change without any editing.

Suffice to say I asked for a mulligan, as compensation for the mulligan that I gave to dean several months ago. You can call me a sore loser, and I probably am but I insisted on the mulligan and have thus far gotten my way. As part of the agreement I promised to give dean 3 days to unload supply on adak/ another Island owned by dean uncontested to simulate my surprise, and promised to post on the forum in good time. Dean will probably argue that his mulligan was to prevent his from surrendering which is true, but he lost 2 fleet carriers in a similarly one sided fashion, and I feel that saving 2 American fleet carriers for 2 Japanese carriers via mulligan is a fair trade.

After the turn, Dean wanted to see what happened if the night naval engagement did not happen so he rerolled the turn and did not send his BBs into the engagement. The result was functionally the same with both fleet carriers either being outright sunk or soon to be abject losses, so I don't really see much of a difference. Although surprisingly the Japanese fighters did savage his strike shooting down around 40 fighters and 20 strike planes for almost no losses of their own. Obviously being on defense was a major factor but it appears that Japanese Carrier fighters and pilots are still far superior to their allied equivalents.

In my current PBEM contest I am the Japanese and we are in May 44. I lost a carrier battle in Jan 42 losing 2 CVs and a CVL for nothing lost for the Allies. Then I won the next two carrier battles that gave me superiority for for 6 months or so but after his carrier pipeline kicked in he went of the offensive by late 43 and a carrier battle occurred that I was trying to avoid by staying afloat but at Truk, but for some reason my ships decided to go after his carriers and our carriers both reacted even though we had both set reactions to zero and they were out of range to each other at the time they reacted into range. Suffice it to say I came out on the losing end of it as he outnumbered me 900-600 aircraft. So after he lost 4-6 CVEs recently and one CV to a combined sub-long range torpedo attacks, we are close to historical Allied advantage for this period. We did no redoes as we just chalked up to the outcomes as fortunes of war. However, we did discuss the one that neither of us wanted nor planned for but decide to press on. That occurred several months back. The war goes on as I am sure we both want it to go the distance.

He has been sweeping Adak the last few days with P-38s and F4Fs from his carriers, and has lost around 20 Carrier fighters and 15 p-38s trading around even with my Tojos and K-45s. If he keep sweeping with his carriers thats good for me, since I know that his F4F pools are small, and he makes later betty strikes easier.

Over in the Solmons yesterday hes swept the base with around 60 P-38s which came in 3 groups and got eaten up by my Cap, but losses were around even overall. aprox 20 p-38s were lost for an even amount of A6m5, Tojo, and k-45.

Over in Aussi, a tank Battalion occupied Daly waters, I was just moving up some troops to garrison it, Hopefully the SNLF assualt Division plus 2 At Gun Battalions can take back the base and hold it until both sides reinforcements arrive.I Am gonna move the Division from Rabaul over to Darwin, to reinforce the area. The next Division bought out from Manchuria/Japan will take its place.

Over in India I've halted the siege of Karachi for the time being, and moved 9 of the 16 Divs over to Bombay to take the city from the single Indian Division guarding the City. I spotted the Wasp and Yorktown passing south of Australia heading east, so All carriers in india are moving back to Japan. He could possibly be planning something in the Solomons, or the Aleutians.

December 17th

Dean attempted to resupply Karachi today with ships moving from the off map base of Karachi. The problem is that he had no air cover to protect them. At least some of the TF was carrying fuel for some reason and thus was easily set aflame. Movement of the Division at Rabual to Darwin has begun, with the first third of the Division expected to arrive in a week. The rest will arrive once more cargo ships arrive to pick them up. Guards Mixed brigade will also be moved to Darwin and replaced with the 65 Brigade from Java. This should give me a large enough force to guard my rear and push back allied troops operating at the edge of their supply lines at Daly waters.

December 20th, I'm officially done with school for the semester so I will be able to update the AAR more frequently for the time being.

Yesterday Dean landed the 2/8th Ind Coy at port Hedland which was ungarrisoned, and occupied the hex. I intend to recapture the base before it can be reinforced and built up into a thorn in my side. To this end, carrier division 1,and 4, along with the SRA defense fleet consisting of 2 CA, 1 CL and 12 DDs will recapture the base by landing the guards mixed Brigade. Dean appears to walking the company to the dox hex containing resources to south, so I might just be able to land a JAAF unit and reoccupy the hex without needing to land a large regiment sized unit.

I've moved 2 Tojo units, 2 betty/Nell units and 1 sally sentai over to northern Aussi to assist in offensive operations. I will probably need to send more Fighters over here, and possibly move some AA over. I've decided to build up Wyndham as a secondary airfield which is more defensible than Darwin but I wont build it past level 3-4.

Up in the Aleutians allied unloading operations have been in full swing for the past few days, with 2 mini subs being sunk in defense of the base. Thus far the coastal guns have sunk at least one cargo ship which was hit 26 times, but no other allied losses have been taken. A CVE and the North Carolina were hit by sub torps but they appear to have done minimal damage.
