Well Gang, that's it for me... Leaving for New Year's shindig shortly.

All that remains is to spend about 20 minutes tying my tie, and then the 4 seconds it'll take my girlfriend to tie it "properly" so she can be seen in public with me...[:D]

Happy and Safe New Year to all!

Have a good time!!! [8D]

So, Niceguy. Are you snowed in again?
Not really, the brunt of this storm missed us. We only got 7" more (17.8 cm).

Interesting side note, our mayor (Mayor Hickenlooper) got a lot of flak for the city closing down during the storm a week ago. The media apparently decided that the city should have stayed open and so ran stories all week about the "Debacle of 2006" [8|]. Truth be told I don't know anyone who thought this at the time. Throughout Denver's history anytime we have gotten 20+ inches of snow in 24 hours the city closes. It only happens about once every 5 years. However, due to the medias slanted and biased coverage people are now saying the Mayor did a poor job. [:@]

My computer was having problems starting apps. I got a DVD writer for Chritmas. I replaced the CD-RW withe the DVD writer and my problems went away. I did not realize the CD-RW was bad and that you could clear what I thought to be a software problem with new hardware[:)]
Bruce, did you ever upgrade the operating system? It sounds like it was a faulty driver. Sometimes when Windows upgrades, or installs a new service pack, they stop supporting older hardware drivers, which can cause problems. I had that problem on my Compaq years ago.

No. I wanted the DVD writer anyway. I am a happy camper.

i am thinking of a Mac Pro - there is some software with which it is supposed to be able to run Windows (i think it uses a different partition)... kinda expensive compared to Windows based stuff, but i figure with VISTA coming out, i'll probably end up having to buy new programs and hardware anyway.

Thank you.

Some specs on this in basic configuration :
QUAD CORE = Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon "Woodcrest" processors
1GB memory (667MHz DDR2 fully-buffered DIMM ECC)
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT graphics with 256MB memory
250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7200-rpm hard drive1
16x double-layer SuperDrive

it can go up to 16 gigs of memory, and as i said, i am waiting for Blueray to come out on it. There is a blueray external unit available (but apparently only in Japan). You can also get faster processors (quad 3 GHz should process WITP in record time... [8D] [:D])

Just nice New Year's. My power supply (or whatever it's called in English) to my PC exploded. Had to pull out my old PC and I don't have WitP installed on that old machine. No WitP for me for atleast two days... :(

Well, you could either install it on your old machine, or rip the power supply out of the old machine and put it in your new machine...

Course, if something MADE the power supply go kablooie - you could be out TWO running machines... [8|] [:'(]

Power supplies have been known to just wear out.

Sure - any number of things could go wrong with them... but this reminds me of the story that a couple of mechanics told - they thought something was wrong on the computer chip for a car, and they happened to have another identical car in the shop, so they thought they'd swap the chips to make sure that was the problem... and it turned out something had fried the chip on the first car, and it also fried the chip from the second car, so they were out big $$$ to replace the chip - and had an angry customer to boot...
