But at least I have my reliable heavy bombers that reach their targets unintercepted. And the target do not even have any anti-air worth mentioning.

Alas, the 53rd Motorized Corps have learned their lesson and camoflaged themselves well.

Despite the lack of the success of my airforce Yeremenko launches a major offensive against Tula. It is defended by some Rumanian unit withouth any winter equpment. According to intelligence they do not even have any anti-tank weapons. It is rumored that they have support of one armor division but since Yeremenko has the 1st Guard Panzer Army a couple of German obsolete tanks should have no impact on the operation.

Both sides launch massive air support.

Unfortunately it turns out that the "new" fighters that my pilots have recieved was the aircraft previously used for scrap parts so they had to turn back at once.

I suspect that some... Well, lets just say it will have consequences.

What begun as a 5 to 1 attack with a possibility to become a 7 to 1 attack if the HQ support launched by Yeremeko was successful (and with the fractional odds roll) has been reduced to a 3 to 1 attack.

But despite that the armor advances towards Tula untill they capture the supply train for the 1st Hannover Militia.There my troops find huge amounts of fine beer from Hannover and my offencive stalls. A big party begins and a bond is created between people from Moscow and Hannover.


At that moment hordes of Stukas arrive and ends the party.

And the attack ends in a total failure.

If you look closely at post #345, above, you'll notice that those treacherous militiamen from Hannover, having broken bread with the enemy, proceeded to get themselves killed in the air raid! Serves them right! [8D]

The year 1941 has come to an end, and the new year is starting out just as bleak as the old one finished. Once again, the initiative roll was victorious for the Germany Army (although it took a re-roll to make this happen).

With my formidible air force slipping and sliding on the runways, 3 bomber groups and a fighter escort manage to get airborne. I order them to target a Soveit stack near Rostov, and also the 2 enemy HQs; if I can put them out of business, the game might well be over, making it very difficult for Orm to conduct a last-minute counter-offensive.

All three of my Ground Strikes can be intercepted, and I have a fighter within range to make a dash for either of the southern targets. Fearing the powerful FW 190 formation headed for Yeremenko, Orm decides to let him fend for himself. In the south, he sends his interceptors to both targets (not shown at the target), and I send my squadron based in Kharkov (also not shown) to try to keep my Stukas in the air over Timoshenko's head. (I really want those HQs!)

In the air over Timoshenko, my pilot distracted the MiG pilot with fancy flying, all the while giving him the finger (Top Gun reference), while my bombers flew safely on to the target.

Farthur south, the Russian pilot got a little cocky trying to pull the same stunt with my bomber. He did scare off my planes, but his fuel ran out while he was till upside-down. [X(] How he managed to eject safely from that orientation, I'll never know!

I guess all of my pilots were busy taking in the antics of the hot-shot fighter pilots. Seems they forgot to drop their payloads, and went home without damaging so much as a stray cow! (Yes, I know this is the second time I've talked about bombing cows . . . and no, I don't have anything against cows [8|] )

I once more railed some forces to the front: the Berlin Militia to Bryansk, the I Cavalry Corps to Kharkov, and a new contingent from the Hannover Militia to Stalino -- they won't make the same mistake twice! Beer is not for the Vodka-drinking heathens, boys!

And now to move my troops into position for some more killing!

For starters, and this is purely based on the principle of the thing, I'm allowing the Helsinki Militia the opportunity to retake Petsamo. This time, I might actually keep it! Or, I might not. But I had to make the effort. After all, that is a Finnish resource!

Edit: I'll also tip you off, though I won't be able to do this for several hours, to the fact that I am going to make one last stab at grabbing back Novgorod. And this time, if I win, I mean to hold it, gosh-darnit!

No, NO. The "bigger" question is; will you release this before I die. Please do so.

I made a lot of moves, and decided it was time to get greedy. [:)] I'm making 4 attacks this impulse:

In the upper left, the Attack on Novgorod begins at 57:11 (3:1)
In the upper right, it's an 18:2 (7:1) attack on the Irkutsk Militia
In the lower left, I really wanted to try to kill off Yeremenko, which would have put a Soviet stack out of supply, but instead I decided to clear away some Russians from my side of the Don, at 70:12 (3:1)
In the lower right, I'm going to try to break through in the south after all. Granted, I have to cross the river to do it, but it is still a 12:2 (4:1) attack on the Saratov Militia.
