Next, going south still, there's the V Corps. It looks like ALL the units of this formation are fully committed to the front line in this area.
That's a symptom that another unit is needed to take some of the slack. To give the V Corps some breathing room to expand and pull
at least one unit back to refit. Once in a while. You know.

Next, going south, is the II Corps. Look at all that attached support. Cool.

Next is the XXVII Corps. With a more normal SU compliment. I gotta remember that there's a third division for some reason separated
from the other two divisions. Maybe I need to break down a division just to have some people I can send to the rear for refit from time
to time.

Next is the LII Corps. I'm wondering what the CR has to say about all these HQ's. What shape they are in I mean.

Here's the CR report on the HQ's with the filter set to Army and Corps only and then sorted on ascending CP's. 9th Army is in some sort
of command distress. I'll have to think about some sort of reorg for that Army to fix the problem. Although it's not all that large of a
problem. Far has done a pretty good job of it, it seems. Wish I could say that about the way I played the Soviets. I'll bet the CR report
of HQ's for the Soviets is a disaster.

EDIT: I've been looking the figure below over and over again and I've just noticed that there are 4 (four) unemployed Army and Corp
HQ's. I'm trying to imagine what advantage you might have having an unemployed HQ. Does it have something to do with build-up's?
Or maybe lengthening the supply chain somehow? Anybody have any ideas along these lines for an unemployed HQ?

What's the advantage of having Divisions attached to a Corps HQ and THEN to an Army HQ at the end?  Why not just directly attach the divisions to the Army HQ and disband the Corps HQ's?  Does the advantage have something to do with a longer supply chain or something?

This is all the stuff associated with the 9th Army HQ. Quite an eye opening experience to realize this about the 9th Army. I'm wondering
if I should maybe disband some of the more useless SU's. Or shuttle them out and over to other Corps/Army HQ's.

This picture is proof that about 40% of the troops are on refit and 60% are not. Which means that the troops are almost but not quite
healthy. Maybe another turn or two and then push.

Oh.....and by the way.......this is the Air Doctrine settings I decided upon. Largely what Far was using evidently.

This picture depicts the rail / supply situation in the south. I'm thinking of pulling all those guys back and reforming a line that is in
supply. I've just come recently from playing the Soviets and they are almost always in supply range so I've not had much practice in
counting hexes to the HQ units from the railheads etc. and I'm pretty sure most of those guys are not in good supply situations and
they will probably be running on fumes pretty soon.

What does the gaming community have to say reguarding strategic options for the rest of this game?

I was looking for any Axis isolated units when I ran upon this one isolated Soviet unit behind my lines. Is that a partisan?

EDIT: It was a partisan. I ran one of my land combat units adjacent to it and it dissappeared. The Combat display said a partisan
retreated. QED.

I ran a Commander's Report on the airbases and found to my surprise that there are a boat-load of air bases that are empty. This is
July of '42 so I'm wondering why Far doesn't have all his air bases full of combat planes out there defending something. And a lot of
those empty air bases seem to be LW air bases. Couldn't we put some recon planes on those or something? Anybody know why Far
would have so many empty air bases? Could it be due to losses? Just curious.

Here's something interesting I found looking around for empty airbases:

In the tour of the front lines which I started some several posts ago, we left off with the XX Corps. The next Corps to the south is this one:

The units of the VII Corps are REALLY spread out. I'll see if I can't remedy that after the tour is over.

Imagine what kind of mystery Farfarer inherited from you!  [:D]
