Remember the big detour? It will soon be over [8D]

Not sure what house rules you are playing with but on some of those heavily fortified areas around Moscow, it may be beneficial to have the Red Airforce announce the entrace of the Red Army. (IE, bomb the victim stack once or twice to "loosen" them up and then attack). The other method (which I doubt you have a lot of troops for, but once the fort line is reduced, the going will be easier) is to attack, then rotate fresh troops in and attack again against a hopefully weakend enemy stack.

A close view. You can also see some of the vict... er, regiments I plan to trash [8D] I will bring the 1 NKPS thing to this area. LOL As if I needed more RR brigades! Remember that I had bought maaaaaaany of them (as per pre 1.05 patch, the forts thing that is).

Before the attack I had attacked the hex with all the planes available [8D]
I hadn't thought about various attacks. I was thinking about a massive strike.

A half-ar*ed "strategic" consideration. I was keeping tank and cavalry corps NE of Stalingrad but across the Volga, ergo in the wrong side of the river. Hungrians were force to cross it, yes, but for sure Marquo wants me to fight here, where I cannot really hurt his hordes. And we can't have that!
Therefore I had in fact planned these movements, concentration of forces (see screenshot). The 3rd Shock and 37 Armies -Stavka armies- have just arrived by tchouk-tchouk. I plan to extricate another army from Moscow area (the 2nd Shock, Stavka army, again) to send it to the Massacre Zone (

), not necessarily near Stalingrad.
So far the biggest limitation is the availability of Armies HQs... As I had said it's hard to extricate them from Moscow area because of the Rifle Corps attached to them (and perhaps still necessary to defend Moscow). So I am sending rifle divisions but the problem remains the same. The armies in this Massacre Zone are already full: 18:18, so...
We will see.

Steamroller in action? Hmm, not yet, I guess [:(]
Still, this turn we accomplished:
31 retreats
17 helds
Ergo 48 attacks [8D]

Part I of the Massacre Zone [8D]

Part II. Oh, as you can see the Cavalry divisions and the Tank brigades have just arrived as well. They have been spreaded along the whole area. Among the chickens that fled there were German
divisions as well, not just regiments [:D] In other words, first blizzard or not, attacks ARE possible.

And Part III. Here we have to mention the 1st Tank Army: they trashed their share but pursued their victims who were trashed again. Serves them right!

I had got all totally wrong! Now yes, I'm pretty certain I should be getting to "Berlin"!

Make sure you don't grind your own tank corps down too much. They are pretty fragile at this point. Let them have a couple of turns of fun, then pull back for rest and refit. You are after moral building victories, but you also dont' want to wind up with 20 tanks and 2k worth of guys at the end of it.

Marquo the Chicken keeps running away exactly where I want him to run away! Bring vodka and accordions! Fiesta!
But a sixth sense is warning me: "
remember the armored hordes". The thing is after using the recon planes (and I know this is not conclusive) the panzer hordes in the North Caucasus have sort of vanished *poof*... gone. I suspect I know where he will be sending them: NW of Stalingrad.
We are waiting by the way. If he wants it, he will get it!

I was going to reply with the usual thuggish tone [:)] telling you that either they attack... attack... attack... or drop dead.. but this turn showed me why I am doing -in my opinion- the right thing: 3 more Tank Corps harvested.

Here you can see the buffer hexes he is leaving. Needless to say, I will try to hurl my hordes the same and trash some of these weak, miserable units.

The vanished panzers, and we are talking about the biggest concentration of them [8D]
In fact you can't see them on the screenshot. And THAT'S the problem. Well, my problem [:D]

The harvest continues. The hysterical measures were needed, methinks: 419 Rifle Divisions now. I just need like 30 (5 or 6 more turns). By spring, if everything goes well (which I can't guarantee [:D]), I might finally have a more or less normal Red Army.
But anyway, as I had said some moons ago, on the first two january turns I will focus on the Guards Rifle Corps. I might buy 5 each turn (therefore 10 harvested) which I would be creating in the Offensive Area.
After all, Marquo is supposed to reinforce this part of the front (the panzers that just vanished?), therefore I will need an extra punch, I guess. In other words, he will try to scare me, therefore I need to scare him a little bit more!

31 Retreats (like last turn)
19 helds
= 50 attacks [8D]

I tried some sort of massive (and yet suicide attack) near Moscow, with the 3 Artillery Divisions. They held but this time at least forts were reduced from 3 to 1. I am way too impatient. I want to know how will the future offensives work. I suspect I need more time. We will see.

This intolerable run away thing (this is scandal!

) sort of saved him in this part of the front [8D]
