You predicted exactly where he would strike, congratulations. Was it a particularily favorable terrain for a breakthrough, or were there weak points in the MLR?

Turn 310 Berlin defense. In the south I have started building the line in depth. You can see the rings that I am starting to form

Sorry this should have been posted before the above. The break-ins have been contained and I building a 10kms (2hex) depth. I still have not seen Willie's tank armies. Maybe this attack is draw off my reserves. But as I have already stated Willie does not know if one of those blue dots is a company or a Panzer division.
I am spread thinly but I still have some strength. My current plan for the end game is to defend forward but at all cost do not allow any large force to be cut off.

Tying your reserves up with broad-front infantry attacks and then smash through in weak points in the line is the classic Deep Battle soviet doctrine. Those tank armies are certainly waiting for an opportunity.

311 next part of the map. I have been able to cover the two break ins and surround the two units. Apart of arty and air attacks I am leaving the burden of attack to Willie.
On the break ins Willie pushed one unit 20kms behind my front up did not follow up and did not support it. I am starting to think that the attacks in the South are to draw off my reserves and that the Attacks will come further up north. The next couple of turns will tell

This is the start of turn 311. Willie has now made a decent hole in my line. I am not sure how I am going to fix this as I am running out of reserves down here and I am not prepared to move my reserves from AGN

I meant your Heavy Rifle Squads. I'd like to see how much fighting power your infantry has left

Really admiring you both, playing this huge scenario to the end. Especially you with being on defense for such a long time without any chance to gain initiative again. Only waiting for the Wunderwaffen zu be deployed [:D] Really great AAR!

This is the start of turn 313. Willie is keeping up the pressure and has made another break in. The hole just keeps getting bigger and soon I will run out of reserves in this area. I have a reasonable size force further down south. I am thinking of withdrawing all German forces (maybe leave a screen) and start on a new MLR at either 1 or 2.
From the posts above you can see that I am not that strong and will need to have sufficient forces to defend Berlin. There for I have to ensure that no large force is surrounded other wise all that entrenching each hex around Berlin to 100% is a waste of time.

Is it too late to start pulling units back to Pskov and form your MLR there? Your front line is too long for the number of units you're using. I'm wondering if you would get better performance out of your units if they were closer to their supply source?

Hi Larry, Yes my front is too long but I am between a rock and a hard place. Shorting my front allows Willie to bring max force to bear. Willie has only 87 turns left to win.
