My two cents...with the move into the Indian Ocean, that certainly lessens the possibility of an invasion of Australia proper. Given that, I would start marching an Australian Militia Division to Darwin (via Alice Springs). They are not great units, but it would at least force him to use divisions and not SNLF.

Get moving though, because it takes about 6 weeks

What do you think of sending some of the Australian Armored units there? Especially once they are upgraded to Matildas? They are rather small units, I was thinking of sending some to Atolls.

I guess the supply of Matilda's also has to go to India too...perhaps not the best idea to use them early.

You will never run out of Matildas. They are really only used by the Australians.

Nice to see another I-boat on the sunk list so early in the game. That is your second, I think?

By the time India starts getting enough supply to fill out armoured units, Stuarts and Grant/Lee tanks are also showing up. They are an upgrade over the Matilda (in stock at least) so you will have lots of Matildas for Oz.

Edit: Alfred beat me to it!

Third...he likes to hang out in port hexes, which can be swamped with ASW, even if they lack training. Savaged another too at Midway. Well savaged might be an overstatement.

Hoping for a mine hit at Rabaul...

ASW attack near Midway Island at 158,91

Japanese Ships
SS I-25, hits 2

Allied Ships
DD Preston

SS I-25 is sighted by escort
I-25 bottoming out ....
DD Preston fails to find sub, continues to search...
DD Preston fails to find sub, continues to search...
DD Preston attacking submerged sub ....
SS I-25 eludes DD Preston by hugging bottom
DD Preston fails to find sub, continues to search...
DD Preston fails to find sub, continues to search...
Escort abandons search for sub

I have a strategy for using some bait task forces...Allies really have some potent ASW platforms.

Actually you can run out of Matildas. In DBB there are 2 Matildas II. One is not used at all and one by Aussies but with very low replacement rate. And this is the case for most of the early Commonwealth tanks. You really need to babysit all British/Indian/Aussie armor units.

Does that mean they don't come by convoy? I only see one Matilda tank in the resource pool.[&:] I see a dozen to 48 Matildas in different arriving convoys...

Ceylon isn't defensible this early, but it still sucks to give the Japanese Colombo with its port and repair facilities.

Assuming that is where he is going of course!

It is all a tradeoff...we are hitting the Marianas this turn as compensation.

I think this is a much wiser plan. Whoever controls the indian ocean can take ceylon at any time no matter what the defense. At this point, that means the IJ with the KB. by '44 it is the allies and the DS.

Bombard goes in despite being short of ammo...and gets punished by the CD guns present.

Post invasion...

I wonder how much will this cause the IJN to change their plans...we are prepping for a full blown invasion of the Marianas, but it is at least a month away. A lot can happen in a month. And I doubt we get that far...but it looks to me that a lot of the starting IJ ships are present, plus merchant shipping from the Guam invasion.

We will make hay here for as long sea control is ours! The CVE and BB IJN force is at Ishigaki...they were at Takao yesterday.

The victory east of Kukong opens up an escape route for all southern troops to Kukong…it looks to me that we will control this area for quite a while...

The IJA spearhead on the Sian road has turned east and west...so it looks to be headed for the Ankang road instead.
