D4Y1-C Judy started production at 15 per month.
J1N1-C Irving started production at 30 per month. That's probably too many.
D4Y1 Judy production will start in 5 days; 1 site (at Nagoya) was converted to D4Y2, then D4Y3, and remains 30(0). I will likely convert 2 more before production starts and build 90 Judy DBs per month.

CA Mogami got hit by another torpedo (from SS KVIII) and sank.

B17s bombed the TFs at Koepang, but missed everything.

We got 5 ASW hits on SS KXVI at Bima.

SS Triton put a torpedo in CA Chokai several hexes from Soerabaja.

The carrier TF at Kwajalein has been detected and will put to sea to the north of Kwajalein. I expect an assault at Tarawa, Shortlands, and/or Ambon in the near future. Reinforcements for Ambon are inbound, but since they have been detected I'm going to wait a bit before moving to the base.

An Allied unit (appears to be brigade strength) has advanced through the jungle to the hex between these units and Rahaeng; 1 Tank Div will move east to counter. We may have to move a unit from Rahaeng, shock attacking across the river to open a hexside to the east, after 1 Tank Div gets there and can also shock attack. The Kirishima was hardly fired upon, but had 64 shell hits? In my opinion the decisive action in this battle was the superior US destroyers taking out all 6 of the fragile Japanese destroyers, while sustaining virtually NO DAMAGE themselves!

But, it gets worse!

A few Banshees attacked the TFs now at Ambon, hitting transports and BB Yamato. The one hit on Yamato only did 1 point of system damage, but more importantly disclosed her location. I should have ordered all ships to stop unloading and depart; we'll see if that invites another disaster tomorrow!

The D4Y1 Judy R&D facility at Okayama was converted to D4Y2, then D4Y3, leaving 3 sites to begin production.

Oro Bay (adjacent to Buna) flipped to the Allies.

I-178 suffered 14 hits at Tulagi, was forced to the surface, then sank.

Sallies and Helens bombed the airfield and city at Changteh; Mitchells and B-17s bombed our troops there.

The Tojo CAP at Ambon downed 1 Lightning, without loss, and damaged some B-17s that attacked the ships there, getting no hits. BB Yamato and TF (and transports) will withdraw to fight another day. Ambon has been reinforced.

Bangkok's airfield reached level 7.

That was a brutal naval engagement! Kudos the the Allied admiral.

The A6M5 d-S R&D at Nagoya 14(16) was changed to A6M2 Sen Baku 0(21). The other one continues R&D.

The 5th (of 6) B6N1 Jill R&D site at Nagaoka reached 30(0). R&D will now advance one month every 20 days, putting delivery sometime in Dec '42. Like the Judys, 90 Jills will be produced each month and 3 sites will convert to B6N2 Jill before production starts. Having 500+ Ha-32 engines in inventory will speed their arrival (now Oct '43).

CVL Ryuho arrived at Yokohama without aircraft. Respawned squadrons from sunk carriers are available, plus other carrier-trained land-based squadrons.

These four Japanese units have fragments elsewhere (mostly Victoria Point), so will rebuilt there when eventually destroyed. The Allies landed at Port Blair on Aug 30 with 3 battalions. By Sep 15 they had 8 units at the base and conducted their first attack on Sep 16. Forts were reduced from 3 on Sep 27, Oct 4, and Oct 8.

SS Snapper fired at CA Haguro leaving Oro Bay but missed. O-24 put 2 torpedoes in a small (1250) tanker leaving Balikpapan and sank it (the smallest tanker in the convoy). I-9 was sunk near Bombay while returning to base to fix previous damage.

CV Kaga has completed repair at Singapore and after changing out her Vals for Judys will head south to join Akagi and Zuikaku almost repaired at Soerabaja and Shokaku, retiring toward Soerabaja. Once these four carriers are joined and Yamato joins Mutsu another evacuation attempt will be made at Koepang.

CV Hiyo's Kates loaded on CVL Ryuho. CVL Shoho's Zeroes are enroute from Canton to join. Hiyo and Shoho were both sunk some months ago.

The Mutsu TF and transports got away from Koepang without being intercepted by BB Pennsylvania or other Allied ships. The Yamato and Mutsu TFs will merge and try to stay undetected east of Soerabaja for the next several days, waiting for the CVs to repair and regroup, before trying another (partial) evacuation of Koepang.

F4Fs swept Tarawa. US CV nearby? The Hiryu/Soryu TF will venture south from Eniwetok, where it refueled, to within 7 hexes of Tarawa.

A quick note on submarine operations, as the Allied ASW seems to be becoming particularly effective. Excluding midget subs, 26 Japanese submarines have been sunk to date. That leaves 28 currently operating with 10 in repair and 10 damaged returning to base for repair.

BB Hiei arrived at Singapore after being torpedoed by a sub. It has 16 system and 19 flotation damage and would require 110 days in the shipyard (40) at Singapore. So, off to Nagasaki. Hong Kong's shipyard is out of commission and Manila's is only 30.

Since this screen shot was taken the 20 Div had moved, and the 2 Chinese corps started moving NW, their only way out of the hex. Aerial bombing has commenced to slow that progress.

Allied bombers in Burma have changed their targeting from Port Blair to Tavoy. Tavoy airfield has been damaged for quite some time and the base is the most likely next objective for the British.

Japanese battleships escorting the Timor evacuation force were detected several times by US and Dutch subs, but not hit with torpedoes. They will lead the way into Koepang tomorrow with LRCAP from 4 carriers.
