There's lots of Jap ships in the Celebes area. They are still in the process of invading at Balikpapan and Tarakan. They will eventually gain the hexes. It may take more troops than they have there now.

Here's the aircraft losses from last turn.

To builds forts, you need engineers in combat mode with supplies. Tulagi was not building forts.

Offensive operations cost aircraft and the Japanese aircraft are disposable so they should lose more aircraft. What is worse in the long run is losing the good pilots. Take a look at my AAR and you can see how much the Japanese have lost compared to the Allied losses.

I would not worry about the smaller islands and their fuel stocks, it is more important to bring fuel from CONUS to your supply hubs especially for your supply convoys to the ANZAC areas. I would build up your hubs with engineers and bring in aircraft for searching. These hubs can then load the smaller xAKs and xAKLs to supply your outposts.

TF541 is 5 DD's that are going to go raid the Jap TF that is trying to invade Ternate. I think I might be able to damage a lot of those Jap transports before they can get away. It's a long way to get there however, so they may be gone by the time TF541 arrives there. We'll see.

There was nobody at Tulagi at the beginning of the game when I went through all the cities in my setup procedure I thought I'd set the forts to build even though there was very little supply there thinking that what little supply that was there would be spent in building forts and the Japs wouldn't get any supply from that hex. Evidently I was wrong. Thanks for setting me straight.

Yes, I'm on track with pilots being more important than the aircraft. And I have ships at LA loading with oil for AUS. And there's TF's heading to AUS with fuel. They really need it.

From CONUS, haul fuel to Australa and not oil. There is a 90% conversion of oil to fuel so you then lose out on having that 10% more fuel. For Australia, haul oil from the DEI after hauling out the fuel. AP, xAPs, xAKs, and AKs can haul fuel at half the rate of supplies and resources so use those to haul fuel as well while the tankers haul fuel first and then oil. You can mix the two in the same tanker and it will automatically separate when unloaded. Oh, the magic of computer games! If the ships don't refuel at Perth but only in the Dei, that also saves a little fuel. Abadan near Karachi will have extra oil, that oil can be hauled to Australia as needed later if you want to do so but hauling fuel is more efficient.

I have read a lot of AARs . . .

The Japs captured Rabaul and Tulagi yesterday which gives them a lot of places to stage further raids and places to base a lot of LBA and Port Moresby is threatened. There's not enough Allied resources in this AO to confront the Japs in any meaningful way so I can forsee Jap raids on the east coast of AUS in the near future.

The Japs captured Davao and have landed at Balikpapan and Morotai. So the Japs will soon own several oil producing hexes and oil will begin to make it's way to the HI. My subs are making interceptions of Jap transports headed north to the extent of a couple of the successful insertion of TT's into the Jap ships. The numbers of Jap transports getting major damage is rising.

Units are appearing at Aden, AP's carry them to Bombay and then are moved by rail down to Calcutta and when Calcutta has enough AV present there to be more than the garrison limit those units are sent to sore spots and this time it's the 254th Armoured Brigade's turn to move to Pegu. They will arrive there within a couple of weeks I'm guessing.

There's lots of traffic around Colombo and that would be a great spot for a Jap sub to loiter around and make some good hunting. So I have at least two ASW platforms operating just outside the port just in case. I haven't been able to assess the chances of Japs attacking here. It's hard to tell right now. We're not exactly ready for such an attack. There aren't any aircraft at Colombo for instance.

The minor damage has started cumulating on CV's Saratoga and Enterprise so I've decided to send them back to Pearl to get fixed, leaving the Lexington to CAP Wake. I need to get Wake some aircraft of it's own.

Don't forget to check your garrison AV at Calcutta when you start pushing units forward. Sending entire brigades can bring the numbers down pretty fast!

I like to group my carriers by class, so Lex and Sara are together. Their upgrades are usually the same time, the shipyard requirements are the same and they both have the same numbers of sorties and torps - meaning they both run low at the same time and go back to replenish. When one of them is grouped with a Yorktown class, there is a temptation to keep the CV TF in the area to use up the extra 100 or so sorties that the newer carriers have, while the Lex class CV is already very low. And then there is that 30,000 ton SY dock at Sydney that cannot take a Lex class CV...

Some of my pilots are reaching TRACOM status and that's a good thing. I've been pushing the best pilots toward the AVG but a lot of the good ones are in the Navy; carrier pilots for the most part.

Really good ideas, thank you very much. I did not know that you can't fit the Lex into the port at Sydney. Good to know.

Canton Island is finally receiving some goodies from Pearl. There's still no AS there to tend to the subs but one is headed this way and will be here within a week or so. There's three broken subs being repaired and they could sure use an AS right now. Maybe an AG would help out?

It'll fit in the port fine. The shipyard not so much. However, most other Allied carriers can squeeze in.
