"As far as we know they gave the place a good working over," said a British spokesman. "But nothing new. The Nippers periodically visit that base."

Bombers out of Port Moresby continued to hit the facilities at Lae. "This will be a long-term effort," said an official. "That place is out of business at present, but it appears the enemy wishes to reinforce it, so we'll continue to hit Lae and the troops at that base until further notice."

Continuation with v1.5

At this juncture the game turns over to the use of v1.5. My new PBEM opponent is Joe Wilkerson. I've no idea how he plays or what he'll come up with for the Japanese. Time will tell that.
I've noticed that night bombing has been severely curtailed. On 27 June 1942, the first turn with Joe, the Allies had 47 B-17s over Rabaul at 6,000 feet and did not record a single hit on anything. I hope that's an aberation.

30 June 1942
Heavy American bombers out of Port Moresby hit the port of Kavieng yesterday in a daylight raid. "The results of this attack were pretty good," said an Army Air Force source. "The purpose of these missions is to reduce the enemy's ability to furnish long-range fighter support for Rabaul from Kavieng, which he's been doing for the past two weeks. We feel we're making progress."

Glad to see you found someone to continue the game, Tris. Good luck with it.
Joe, if you have any questions about why such and such was here or there, let me know.

I'm glad you resurfaced. I was looking for you the other day when the discussion on the board turned round Allied ASW technology. I can list the specifics of that but I can't address the nuts and bolts as I don't have the training. I thought you'd be the perfect guy for the job.
I'm not sure Joe has the thread yet or not. It's only been three turns or so. I've offered to stand down if and when he wishes so that he can get his act together, but so far he hasn't taken me up on that. (Actually, a couple of my bases were obliged to stand down because of your bombardments, now that I think of it. [8D])
What's going on with you?

I've snooped off and on with the forum but haven't posted much. Been concentrating on my classes. I must have missed the ASW thread. I'll have to look for it.
I hate microbiology. Ya can't see those little damn bugs so they can't be that important, right?
