1. Not sending enough fuel to SoPac/SWPac/Australia (Dec. 1941)

A typical newbie mistake. For the record, I did know from several AARs that I need lots of fuel here early on (especially in CHS), and I did send lots of TKs and AOs, but simply not enough. For instance, I've got 100,000+ oil closing in on Australia right right now, which is pure overkill. Those TKs should be carrying fuel instead. Doesn't matter anymore now (got a fuel depot at Pago Pago now), but it did hamper my operations in January.

I think the accepted rate of sending Oil from USA to Australia is 1 18K TK per month. Initially, I don't send any as I try to get what I can from the SRA before if falls. Sometimes, I send it just to Northern Australia to keep it away from the Japanese. [:D]
4. Defense of Java

Right now the combined assault value of all troops is approx. the same as on Dec. 7th, 1942. When this game started I decided to keep all Dutch garrison units where they are in order to force Gary to fight for every base in the DEI. This strategy has its merits, but Java should definitely see an increase in AV before Japan invades - if not Dutch Garrison units I should have sent some CW troops from Singapore or some Australian units. Right now I'm surprised to see how much resistance I can put up on Java, and I'm wondering what the situation would look like right now if I had sent at some combat units to Java.

I think someone did an AAR on sending most of the Brigades on Malaya to Java vs. keeping them on Malaya or sending them to India. He did very well by doing so (I think it was by Nemo, but I'm not sure). Others have used a "Fortress Java" approach to the defense of SRA to great effect. It is a strategy that is worth trying! Every time you play WitP is a learning experience. Some Japanese players try different techniques that can lead to minor disasters. IMO, the first few turns for an Allied player is critical to conducting a good defense (you wont lose the war, but you can help your effort tremendously). [X(]

Surrender accepted. Japanese leadership will be charged with starting a war of aggression, and for committing some minor atrocities in this short war, but otherwise the Allies are glad that reason and humanity have prevailed in Japan after less than 3 months of bloodshed. [:)]

Congratulations to you on your victory. And congrats to both you and your opponent for an honourable game.
Thanks Nemo. This game ends in full agreement between both players.

I have enjoyed this game (and writing this AAR) immensely! I'm still stunned by all the great feedback you guys gave me, and by the amount of people posting/reading this AAR. Thanks for all the advice! Another thank you goes to Andrew Brown and the CHS team! [&o]

Great Victory!![&o][&o]

I'm going to miss this AAR as the screen shots and picture posting made it very easy to read (I hate reading AAR's that just have combat reports and no screen shots [:@]). [:(][:(]

The Philippines. The entire 16th Army (2 Divisions, 1 Bde + smaller stuff) has been defeated several times and is retreating (fleeing) to Legaspi. The only combat ready Japanese unit on Luzon is another Mixed Rgt at Aparri. No Japanese reinforcements are available ATM, so I probably would have reconquered Luzon entirely and defeated (but not necessarily annihilated) all Japanese troops.

Most Japanese troops (4 Divisions, 1 Mxd Rgt.) are at Singapore, but there I have 1000 AV behind level 8 forts. Supplies are running out, but the 4 Japanese Divisions besieging Singapore aren't really in great shape, and I think I could have held for two more weeks (or three). Then these troops would have to recuperate before being sent to Luzon.

Furthermore, the Japanese battleline is in disarray (2 BBs sunk, 4 BBs (heavily) damaged), KB has 10+ sys damage due to wear'n tear, and the Japanese offensive in Burma stalled at Meiktila.

Probably as important as the Japanese defeat on Luzon is the fact that Japan has lost more than 50 APs so far, and at least the same amount is (heavily) damaged.

Congratulations on a well deseved victory [&o]

Shame it wont continue but i'm not suprised and your defence of the DEI and the PI is an example to all allied players ( Bar the fighter sweeps [;)]).

Thinking of starting a new AAR sometime soon as you have without doubt the best presented AAR i have ever seen/read.

congrats again ! [:D]
