Here is the big picture with engines and airframes. This should give a decent idea of the larger scope of airframe and engine production for this game.

Good to see numbers. I see some places where you overproduced, and yet when you tally it all up, you "only" spent 2,538,036 HI on planes. Tried attaching my spreadsheet in .xlsx, .xls, and .zip, but it kept telling me not supported.

The thing is, I'm not at all concerned with overproducing now, as there is plenty of HI. Where I could have saved is in using the air groups less in order to save supply, both from daily use costs and replenishing/upgrading air groups.

Here is the list of the top Allied air losses. It's surprising how many Corsairs are actually on this list, but also the P-47s. I mainly pu this up to compare to Jocke's list for FOW.

After 1302 turns I couldn't get any of these up over 12 kills. Some did last the entire war though, which is impressive.

When I made this screenshot I didn't think to put them in chronological order, but this seems the most interesting right now, so I rearranged them the old-fashioned way!

At the end the IJN still has 7 CVs in good working order (or will in less than a week when the Kasagi and Katsuragi would have gotten out of the shipyards). Two others, the Taiho and the Kaga, might have been able to be used in a one shot strike.

Since I was in Jocke's AAR from the beginning, I stayed out of yours until you got near the end of '44. It was great to see what was possible as Japan, especially with your NFs. Your AAR will change the strategy of how Allied players use their B-29s and what targets to select for strategic bombing.

While players love to see the sinking of CAs and BBs, the steady loss of your DD fleet hurt you by the end. Hopefully, that will happen with Olorin (Nick) in our game (March '44).

Thanks for your efforts to provide so much insight to your play. I will try to apply the lessons learned here rather than relearn them the hard way. [:D]

I'm curious what you mean about the DD losses hurting me in the end. Actually I didn't really feel too short. I did use a lot of the 27 knot Matsu class, but they did as well as the better IJN DDs by the end, (none of them doing very well, that is). They were really only there for sub protection by 45, and in every encounter the IJN would lose 2x the DDs of the Allies.

Let me know what you mean if you have time. I'd love to know what you're referring to in relation to the DDs.

It does! I'm going through al of this data now though which is also kind of fun.

I wish I had a full tracker list for the whole game, but alas had to reinstall when we updated and it is only for the past 300 days or so. But I can go back through my own posts. I'm interested in the things we don't see as often caught in th edgily concerns and struggles , and also which things really worked and which others really didn't. It's fun in another way and will hopefully give me some good things to test as well.

As a parting shot to the game we did a post-game test run with different settings on the last turn. It taught me some things, even to the last here.

If setting a bombardment, no matter what you think you might need, go for flank speed if you really need to get there. This turn the BBs arrived in Moppo, got creamed by a bunch of CLs and DDs, and two were sunk with the rest slinking back damaged. The IJN CLs did well, as did the CAs, and survived the encounters for the most part. Lots of small ships were sunk.

I also have some things to wonder about and test more. The sweeps I sent to Moppo, nearly 1,000 planes total, didn't really do much in spite of huge numbers coming in together. I've noticed this a lot in the later game with the Japanese sweeps, less so with the Allied big sweeps. They seem to devastate CAP, where ours had very small results for the number of planes involved. Watching the replay it seemed to be only about 10-15 actual engagements before they all broke off and the next groups arrived. Nothing like 200 passes. Maybe it was just the thunderstorms in Moppo this day.

Here is a list of subs lost by the year, separating I-boats, RO boats and midget subs and showing what destroyed them. Interesting to see the totals.

I'll try to get a sense of the effectiveness of subs, but Jocke has to post some numbers for this to be really accurate as well! Overall I was happy with the performance of subs once I learned better how to use them. I wasn't happy with getting around 30 sunk in various port strikes, including jcke's very good move hitting Naha in late 44, where i'd staged subs to repair system damage for a few days before heading out. As usual, the extremity of results meant ALL subs in port that day war sunk outright.

Another thing I am surprised by is how few subs lost for the IJN in the first two years of the war. Only 38 total lost I-boats and RO boats in 42-43. About 1.5 a month.

I put the list up. Leading Ace is USAAF. Actually I think the majority in the top are USAAF! I think your strikes against my CVs the kills got spread out among hundreds of different pilots.
