Erik that's what you say, not what you do. You have demeaned me personally in here, by name. Rather than saying what you think, you have specifically told me what I should think. You have said that my feelings about the press are "dangerous." When I pointed out the mistakes you made with respect to Georgia you didn't acknowledge them. Over and over again you have talked peace but too often acted differently. I've been just as disappointed in your behavior as you have been in mine.

As for CapMandrake, I've never before seen him (and other forumites) so upset in here. On the other hand, the instigator has repeatedly acted reprehensibly. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt given their years of good conduct.
The person who is constantly challenging us on things seems to be craving attention. Even when he gets a response he demands more. The best strategy is to just ignore him and not respond. It's what we learned to do with the kid in the playground who kept bugging us to get a response. They would only go away if we ignored them.

Some from the USA are saying, "This is the way we're doing it, it seems to be working, we'll keep trying. You folks elsewhere are doing your best. Keep on. Good luck." There are some from other countries who seem to be saying here, "This is the way we do it in our [smaller, less populous, more dense, more accustomed to nationwide action] country. Do it our way."

No. They're actually asking how it's actually working and why there are so many reports of people not staying at home for various reasons.

Is this from someone who admits to going out in public almost every day? In a large city? Around other people? When they don't actually need to go out?

This is a weird claim, Obvert. I live in Georgia and in the US but I'm not qualified to offer opinions about things here? I just spent an hour doing calculations and posting the results backing up the points I've been making. As expected, they bore out what I'd been saying (because I live here and know what's going on). When I corrected your mistaken assertions about Georgia yesterday, you just ignore it. A simple "oops" would've sufficed.

Hey, Durned Wolf, Georgia is the state I'm most familiar with, so I post with what's going on here and reply with what's going on here, but I've made it clear (yesterday) that most or all states are doing the same and that all are in good faith doing what they think is best in a novel situation.

Exactly. And what he responded with is that again you gave no evidence for that claim. You just keep saying things like that makes them true.

A local pastor will be holding Easter services next Sunday morning. Cars will park in his farm pasture. His broadcast will be carried by Facebook (or possibly a local radio station). Attendees will remain in their cars with windows up.

That's one way to do church.

Our education systems have to start teaching students how to handle stress early on, so they don't do this as adults: From the Toronto Globe and Mail:

A Walmart security guard from southern Quebec was fighting for his life on Sunday morning after being struck and dragged by a driver who was allegedly enraged by social distancing policies aimed to curb the spread of COVID-19, local police said.

Police in Sherbrooke, about 150 kilometres east of Montreal, said the incident occurred at about 5 p.m. Saturday when the suspect tried to enter the Walmart with his partner, only to be told just one person per vehicle was allowed inside at once.

Police spokesman Martin Carrier said the suspect allegedly became frustrated after leaving the store, leading to an altercation in the parking lot.

“At a certain moment, the frustrated client ran directly into the employee with his vehicle, even dragging him on the hood for several metres,” Carrier said.

The 35-year-old guard suffered a serious head injury during the incident and remained in critical condition on Sunday morning.

The couple left the scene but were later arrested at a nearby residence.

The 25-year-old suspect was expected to appear in court on Sunday, where he could face charges of armed assault with a vehicle, aggravated assault and hit-and-run.

I think a few others on here are beginning to se who you really are Dan. It's sad since you obviously put a lot of pride in your standing in this community. When it comes to having ideals of yours challenged at all, you attack the person, not the idea...

Erik, I've been here for 18 years. My behavior is pretty well known to folks, the longer they've been here the better they know me. Sometimes I am irritable but mostly not. Mostly I'm here sharing with this community.

What's different now? One person is persistently, remorselessly rude and aggressive. He persistently, remorselessly declines invitations to take it private. Under his perpetual ill-will, folks of good standing sometimes get snappish.

I'll rest on my reputation, for good or ill.

Wow - Bishop California - just had an earthquake nearby. Shook the house a bit.

So far - so good in Bishop.

No biggie - just 4.4. It rattled just 'cause it was near.

Why is the US States situation more complicated than the German Lander?

For the avoidance of doubt that is a genuine question.

It's not. Most Americans simply don't know anything about the political makeup of Germany or any similarities that exist with the US.

The Lander system has worked well there as early on the regional governments all activated local labs for testing and isolating people with the virus.

There were local labs testing early on as well. One in Washington state comes to mind.

By ra way, what Biden said on at least two occasions in reference to the China travel ban or use of the geographically correct "China virus" was "xenophobic".

Unless Joe is talking about Lizard Men from Alpha Centauri he is just using the Left's new buzzword after "racist" became hackneyed.

The US had 740,000 arriving passengers from China in January

The US population is 4x the size

For example, the LA school district has 200 languages spoken. The number of illegal aliens in the US is 1/4th the population of Germany. There are nearly as many non-English speakers in the US as there are German-speakers in Germany. We have 10's of million people here who are illiterate in their native language.

The US is perhaps 10x larger geographically

Let's get real

The same can be said about some in here reporting about the Georgia governor. It's easy to fact check that too. Wait, it actually isn't. It takes a lot of time. That's why nobody else in here checked. Don't believe everything you hear on CNN, etc.

I actually read everything available and come up with nothing you claimed he said earlier. He simply didn't I don't watch or read CNN. But if it's CNN you have a beef with use a different source.

His exact words stated he only learned the day before closing down Georgia that asymptomatic pattens might pass the infection. it's in my post.

Obvert;

You are a smart guy. I enjoy your posts. I apologize for calling Mind-Messing a "peacock". This was a biologically inapt analogy. I will try to behave myself. <hands begin to twitch uncontrollably>

I enjoy your posts too. Your use of antiquated political insults aside. Sorry about the twitch. Maybe you should see a doctor.

Well - let's hope it's not ready to blow any time soon. Bishop is just a tad close and somewhat downhill. And thanks to gravity, you know how things roll. Downhill. Besides, I live close enough to wind up extra-crispy. [;)]
