I snuck a unit onto the Smolensk city hex and captured it. Now I just need to hold onto it for the Soviet turn.

I'd love to test this monster out. Is it available for download anywhere? I've been playing FITE solitaire off/on for the past 2 years and it's actually pretty fun. I'd like to see how the PO does, however.
One thing missing from all games I've played, though, is that sense of surpise and suspense that must have occurred in reality. The artificial "shock" bonuses are there to replicate that - but only make sense at the operational level. At the strategic/political levels (where FITE resides), the shock factor should come from, say, having failed to mobilize in time or putting all your eggs (panzer divisions) in one basket (Army Group North Ukarine), so to speak (as in Bagration).
Historically, the Germans were often caught off-balance (after 43) and failed to transfer their powerful reserves to the point where they were really needed. It's hard to see how that could occur in TOAW3/FITE.

This is actually a pretty good game. I know what you mean by the lack of surprise however. Let us know how your game goes, okay?
