All the things this map editor can do, are so extensive it can get mind boggling.
Good Hunting.

To combine a map editor with google is simply brilliant. It makes making maps so much easier. I would have liked to see the maximum size of the maps (2000m) bigger, but there is always something, isn't there? Can maps also be made on the basis of old aerial pictures?

They certainly can. And they can be made by using a sketch map from a unit's AAR notes.

Really? This is getting better and better. In that case I would like to point to this site, where great maps and aerial pictures can be obtained, if politely asked. Everybody who wants to make their own maps should have a thorough look here.

I love making scenarios (for personal use so far), but my biggest frustration is always the map, which never turns out as I want it to. Perhaps, perhaps....

I will say this about the 2km map size. In this game system, the way it plays, the speed at which things happen, that's like having maps twice that big in other games.
I thought that 2km maps would be just the median size before we were through, and who knows it might be, but my favorite size map for PCO is 1.5k.
Good Hunting.

You are probably right, MR. Bigger is not always better. And 2000m will do nicely. Will it be possible to make detailed maps of Stalingrad, including the factories? And could someone please tell me a little bit more about the buildings that are included?

It can be. The maps could be made and mods could be done for the buildings but at the moment the infantry combat model won't support the battle of Stalingrad. For that level of detail for the infantry PC4 will be the one.
Good Hunting.

Keep in mind that the aerial photo does not give you 3D terrain. If you can pinpoint the location from the photo, then you can use GE to get the elevations, then use the photo for the details.
See mobius battle on Niemrow. He even made the buildings for it based on photos.

Nice underbrush and grass! [8D] ...but look a tad too bright, when compared to ground, trees and the splinter camo german uniforms. Almost looks like sort of glowing FX.

Well, yes, but apart from that...sensational! I'm really getting in the mood for this game.

Do the plants help with concealment factors, or are they simply a cosmetic feature to enhance immersion?

I thought I posted about this but I can't find it.
Yes the plants conceal / effect LOS in and out.
Currently the map maker decides the scale of the plant. Then decides if the plant will block LOS. Then he uses the scale as a multiplier of the min and max size of the blocking function.
So you might see waist high grass that doesn't block at all, or blocks standing troops like it is 2 meters high, or only blocks prone troops.
