I've saved up a significant amount of PP's. So what in the world should I spend them on? Anybody have an opinion?

That's not very much actually - less than a Div.. In the beginning you need to replace leaders for LCU's (combat), SS's and some airgroups. Then you'll be buying out restricted LCU's or changing a/c types...

Plenty of use.

LOL - I'm kidding when I say this n01487477, but you sure have a way of bringing us back to reality quickly! [:D][:D][:D]
I for one appreciate all the info - as I'm getting ready to try my first AAR... I'm getting advice from Larry on how to make the AAR look good like his, but the knowledge pouring out here about this game borders on intimidating!

Good stuff though!

Actually - it's not all that bad once you get in there and start making decisions. The forum members will be your greatest asset and guide.

If playing Japan - read the econ101 doc, read some AAR's like Mike Solli's or SqueezeMyLemon etc, download tracker, watch the video's(some outdated), read the FAQ, read the wiki etc. And most of all just play, make mistakes and learn while having fun. If playing PBEM, find a partner who is willing to learn with you or play a slightly more experienced opponent who will share. I think Larry has learned a lot in the month or so he's been on this forum.

The level of detail is there for the grogs; but still is accessible for the new guys. Don't sweat the small stuff at first and learn as you go. The good thing is that you'll always be learning new things [;)] Something few other games can testify to.

Good luck and PM me if you need help.

950 will almost allow you to upgrade your LCU leaders in China. [:D]

As IJ, you have to balance exchanging leaders, which saves a lot of troops/aircraft/ships, versus releasing more units from restricted commands vesus (now) changing aircraft types in groups. I've never had excess PP's in a game to date.

2) You cannot accelerate all CVs, you just don't have naval shipyard points. You are producing 1396 points, you are now using 2353 points, and you have stockpiled only 36 points... Do the math. [;)]
Right......I see that. What was I thinking? Okie dokie...I'm on it. Thanks.

Here's what I've done to fix it. I'm accel. only the more recent builds and the rest of them are back to original setting except for the one turn off suggested.

Image

I suggest you don't accelerate any of the 1942 carries, you'll get them soon anyway, and they cost lot of shipyard points. It's much better to accelerate Taiho, Unryu, Amagi and Katsuragi, and if you have points also some of the 1945 carriers (but not Ibuki, that's crap). On the other hand, it might be that 1945 carriers arrive too late to make any difference.

When it's possible, halt at least all slow and short ranged RO-boats, the ones that have durability 24.

BTW, in your screenshot you are still using 1736 points, but producing only 1396. [:)]

Completely agree with Puhis.  You have enough CV's in '42 unless you loose some.  What you need are a LOT more in '43, which means you need to accelerate those CV's scheduled for 44/45 and get them into '43.  This will keep you above the allies for '43.  There is nothing you can about '44.  Once the Essex class start rolling in, the USN gets so many ....

Sounds good to me gentlemen.

I was kind of dissappointed in the results of the morning air attack at Wake. All those attacking planes and only 6 Allied casualties.

Here's what happened at Hong Kong. My guys are getting to be 24% fatigued so I'm going to relapse to bombardment for at least one day and let them rest a bit.

Next time try ground attack instead of airfield attack. Your planes were bombing runway, hangars and repair shops, not combat troops.

Oh. Okie dokie. Thanks

I've got some xAKL's being converted to PB's at Truk. I'm planning on converting most of the xAKL's to PB's because I figure I need the escorts. The Allied subs are becoming a pest.

Another pearl of wisdom (use it as you want): I convert all the To'su,Kiso,Ansyu-C xAKL to PB,
respectively: 12 knots/1700 endurance (To'su, for short range escort and emergency asw patrol),
11 knots/4000 endurance (Kiso, for medium-long range escort at low speed), 14 knots/6000 endurance
(Ansyu-C, for long range escort at good speed).

The last installment of the 4th Div. is finally nearing Guam. All the way from Japan w/ no escort.

Larry,

I just answered a RA opponent request, so my first AAR may be a PBEM...RA 4.2 just came out and I D/L'd it today.
I've been reading the Econ101 and man o man, I've got 4 pages of notes and questions just from that. Good stuff!
