• The USN ships recently withdrawn from the South China Sea are getting much overdue maintenance at Manus and Truk. Saratoga is heading to Pearl Harbor to get her 1/45 AA upgrade at the same time. Wasp II also will head to Pearl Harbor as her deferred maintenance needs are more serious.

• The troops on Daito Shoto need to recuperate before commencing clearing operations.

Good job at Daito Shoto! Capturing it should prevent creation of more SSX. IIRC, SSX are created in batches of six (if there is enough supply and SSX in the pools). The numbering of the SSXs you have sunk suggests at least 18 were created recently but you have sunk about 12-13 and the one that torpedoed Oklahoma is out of torps (maybe sunk too). Just clean-up now.

After considering what a B-29 port strike might do to them, I expect KB and company were moved to Hokkaido or Sakhalin.

You can dump more supplies there and go over the storage limits and have wastage. But if he is overstacked and attacking, those supplies will be drawn down fast anyways. The Americans can afford to do that, the Japanese, not so much.

With his perimeter being pushed nearly to the HI, he may have thought that now is the time to send any AS he has out into your SLoC and set up shop at some dot base. They could supply torps for a long time! Fuel is a different issue, but Japan gets some small oilers or tankers that could sneak out there too.

I forget which AAR, but about four years ago there was a campaign which was down to the Allies about to land on Honshu. All but one of the Kuriles were taken by the Allies and that one (Ketoi?) was a dot base. The crafty Japanese player managed to sneak an AV in to it and then moved all his patrol and FP aircraft there with orders for a naval strike. He had seen (via sub I guess) that large allied CVE and APA TFs were coming westbound along the Kuriles so he sent all his float/seaplane type aircraft on strike, guessing correctly that the Allied player would not have CAP up so far behind the lines. The Allied TFs were massacred. Lesson is - don't bypass dot bases until you assess every way the enemy could possibly use them!

Yes. I haven't kept close count, but he has several carriers and battleships, plenty of destroyers, but I think his cruiser pool is very limited.
