There's something you don't see every day!

The P-51 sweeps over Kweilin went very well. It's a surprise that the Empire has not tried to interdict our troops in the open making their end around. The two Australian divisions at Kwangchowan (7th, 2nd) will start moving direct for the wooded hex just across the river from Wuchow. It will take them a while to back out of Kwangchowan but the timing should serve well enough. A Bn is being flown in from Hanoi to relieve them (heavy equipment will march) and an AA Bn and a base force are nearing Kwangchowan now. The four P-51 groups that went hunting over Kweilin today will prowl the skies over Canton tomorrow.

Defenses at Alor Star were steamrolled as predicted.

One more day for a key division to recover. The Imperial death gliders continue to try and penetrate our CAP over Lang Son, which we have strengthened. They came out slightly on the losing side.

With Kalidjati in our hands the larger units (Rgts/Bdes) will rail in. Together with Bn/Coy sized units, the USA 158th IR will invest and cut off Bandoeng while all other units assault Batavia.

At Daito Shoto the weak ground attack was surprisingly successful, aided by the naval bombardment and heavy aerial bombardments.

Tomorrow one division and one regiment will join the armor to continue the attack. PacAO will begin unloading tonight. The base forces and construction engineers convoys will arrive tomorrow but likely not begin unloading until the day after. With only 9% damage to the port - all other damage at the base repaired earlier than anticipated - loading and unloading should speed up. But it's still only a size 1 port. The bombardment of Nago went well, but Naha fought back!

And of course you don't see mines catch bombarding ships very often. Tsuyung has 17(10)% flotation damage, will make temporary repairs in port at Daito Shoto, then head to a shipyard. Northampton's damage is 11-1-2(1)-0. We will hold off on further bombardments for one day until the ammunition ships pull into Daito Shoto to rearm the cruisers.

The P-47 groups did indeed run LRCAP from Daito Shoto over Naha. In fact they had an exceptionally busy day, joining more numerous carrier fighters in smashing the air fleets sent against our troop positions. Only two or three times did small numbers of planes make it through to make runs. Our troops at Naha look much better: 4x divisions have disruption only in the 50s, 1x division in the 40s, and 1x division has reduced all the way to 33%! AV is 2,685. The closer of the two supply convoys is about three days out., and the battleships are about that far away from being able to add their more resolute voices to the ship to shore battery conversations.

One fleet carrier TF is heading back to Guam to replenish and bring the damaged CV with them. The CVE has disbanded at Daito Shoto for temporary repairs. The CVE damaged earlier is still on the way to Guam for temporary repairs.

China. Notice that there is now enemy movement westward out of Canton, possibly to block our southern armor movement or to reinforce the woods before Wuchow.

I think so. It's not certain. But even if I can't it gets battered each time it retreats and so wouldn't be much upon reaching Singapore. What I really want is to destroy it now so it stops being a road block and our forces can move even faster.

What I have going for me in terms of maybe catching it is air superiority. The Empire is operating nothing up there and we've got several groups making strikes every day.

Daily for quite some time now. There are two small ASW type TFs there, been there forever. And one lone CL in a TF, which has been there since I mentioned it looked like one slipped down there from Singapore. I forget exactly when that was, but not horribly long ago. And maybe ~14,000 troops.

I would assume it holds base and support squads putting AV at no more than 400, more likely under 200. hmmmmmmmmmm.

The assault forces on Sumatra are two divisions and one brigade. While the brigade might linger in the middle regions on zombie prevention patrol or some such, the two divisions will eventually reach Palembang, snagging everything else on their respective journeys there.

I also have a Bn and a Rgt preparing for Oosthaven, the Rgt below 30% prepared and the Bn just above 50% prepared. The Bn is on a bunch of APD right now heading to Soerabaja to refuel (they were picked up at Ketapang). There are about 1,400 troops at Oosthaven and maybe 20 guns. If I task the B-24 groups in the area with hitting them for a day or two before landing, even the 1/2 prepared Bn might get ashore in decent shape to defend itself. If can recover and take the port, then the Rgt can be brought in without wrecking it. One problem is that Merak has lots of mines and the LCU there is probably a shore battery just waiting for innocent, peace loving mine sweepers to come along. My plans already include small units around Batavia and grabbing Merak as part of fixing the forces at Batavia in place (a similar maneuver is underway around Bandoeng). That would make the trip shorter for either the Bn or Rgt going to Oosthaven, but the main issue is fatigue/disruption in APD vessels for the Bn that would make an opposed landing. I might have them land at Tjilatjap after refueling just to rest the troops before reembarking and making the assault.

At this point Palembang is a minor target. I have all the fuel and oil I need for the area from Balikpapan and so on. It's more of a cleanup item.

Our subs suffered one sunk near Kwangchowan.

The Imperials initiated heavy air strikes against our southern armour thrust, degrading the unit and sending disruption to 94%. George fighters from Canton swept overhead to clear the way. Meanwhile, P-51 from Hanoi and Haiphong shattered the Jack CAP over Canton, which obviously was on watch for 4EB, not for 1EF. About half the other armor has entered the woods and contacted the (unknown) 2 Imperial defenders there, the remaining armor in the column will catch up tomorrow. Based on the recon numbers, it appears that 1 unit and about 10,000 troops have left Nanning. The base force will arrive at Kwangchowan tomorrow, so we have moved in 4x 16-plane Thunderbolt squadrons with orders to LRCAP the southern armoured unit at 10,000 ft (to hopefully avoid the worst of any sweeps).

In the mountains we lack much strength to really push the Imperials out, but we have moved them a little. We are ordering ground assaults at three locations tomorrow, but the results are likely to be disappointing. The real objective is pressure and use of supplies. The first location is 2 hexes NE of Tsuyung on the road where we have just seen enemy units moving away. The second is Kunming, the only one of the locations where the Imperials have been under continuous air assault. The third location is 1 hex SE of Kunming where our units have just caught up with an Imperial unit that was retreated, but there are 2 other defenders present. Some groups that have been training or striking Lang Son after being ambushed will raid the defensive positions here, aided by P-51 sweeps overhead. Other P-51 groups will sweep Tuyun, with 60 fighters a possible source of LRCAP in the area.

The attack continues tomorrow with the same units. The 93rd ID has 17% disruption but the opposition is so light it should not matter. The 1st and 6th USMC divisions finished loading and will move out, and the 3rd USMC will begin loading as it clearly will not be needed to secure the island. PacAO is ashore, and its Naval Support added to the various AKE and other support ships that arrived reloaded the magazines on all cruisers just fine. One TF will hit Naha (as noted above) and another will target Amami Oshima. The base force and engineer convoys have arrived and begin unloading tonight. The base itself is fully repaired and the airfield is size 1 + 17%.

One of the fleet CV TF near Naha is heading to Guam to replenish. The fleet CV TF near Daito Shoto will take its place. Near DS the relief CVE have swapped in and a larger group of CVE are heading back to Pearl Harbor to get their AA suites upgraded. Base force and engineer convoys for Naha are heading to a point near Daito Shoto.
