The 12th of March and Singers and the PI still hang on !  I can only imagine what this is doing to ratbrain's time table [:D]  Having said that the supply at Singers is now critical with the troops forced to start eating rice and fish, with some meat from local cattle and pigs that have been butchered. Ammo is also very low.  The PI is looking better at Clark but Manila is in the same boat as Singers.  There is no hope of re suppyling any of these bases. [:(]

is re-supplying by sub worth the time&effort ? anyone tried this ?

  What exactly did you send to Manila and Singapore? I use 3 full divisions and 2 Engineer Reg, along with at least 2-3 Artillery units along with a HQ to each location. I use 1 division and a brigade to hold at Lingayan in case my opponents start moving troops to Manila. I will sometimes move another divsion to Lingayan along with 2 Engineer Reg and a HQ to Lingayan when I get ready to make my push right before Manila falls.
 
 2 Divisions (usually the 21st and 38th) begin the push for Java around Jan 42 if not sooner. I learned that the hard way against Panzerjager Hortland. I waited till Feb 42 to invade Batvia and met the 18th UK division and a slew of US a/c along with Aus and Brit a/c and troops. Plus most of the US and Brit Navy. I have most of the Southern Area Army in 3 different bases on Java without supplies, own no base, and have a devestated transport fleet to boot.

Raver is a liar.  Look back over our last 6 AARs and you'll find at he lies - a lot.  Sure, he plans to take PM back, sometime in 1944.
 
Before then, he isn't going near the place.  He doesn't have the resources.
 
Singapore is finally starting to crumble - just needed fresh troops.  Once Singapore falls, I'll be flush with troops.

If you want to capture oil at Palembang intact (or mostly intact) this is a very unhealty way. It has been documented that every unsuccessful attack increases the chance for damaging resources and oil.

There is no guarantee that you will capture these resources intact but it seems the following tactic works in most cases:

-bomb base from the air, sea and ground for a week (this will disable most of his eng squads)
- attack with overhelming force to make sure you will capture Palembang in one turn
- bring engineers with you - a lot of them. Some people said that construction unit eng helps in capturing oil and resources intact, but that could be their impression. Anyway, when i'm attacking rich base i do it with overhelming force and lot of eng units (both combat and construction eng)

From those numbers, Palembang will not be captured at all -- but I'd bet the farm Luskan has more troops moving in that direction. The idea of capturing more resources if you have eng units is interesting. Maybe the game assumes that engineers know how to disarm explosive charges? But thanks to some remarkable luck on Raver's part, many of Luskan's engineers seem to be occupied at Singapore and in the PI.

Although Singapore is slipping (finally) bit by bit.  4 more days at the most - then I'll make short work of Sumatra (i'll have Java finished by then) and the PI.
 
Then I'll do some reinforcing in other areas before my next offensive.

Singers inches closer to destruction and I see some light at the end of the tunnel.  One of my divisions there is in bad shape and will need some R & R, but 2 of them are fresh and in fighting trim - they'll move into Burma.  The engineers, arty, and "average" divisions will get a few days rest before I land them on Luzon.
 
I was about to get desperate.
 
After a week of sailing KB uselessly around off Tarawa and maleaop I retired to refuel and rearm - of course, then Raver snuck in a fast transport group to suplpy Tarawa (one of my subs spotted them).  bastards.

Well I'm not likely to send in a TF to Tarawa when you ARE there am I?  [8|]

Finally, after months of siege, poorly managed attacks and lack of progress, Singapore has fallen.  48,000 allied troops went into captivity, and boosted my score by a healthy margin.  Best of all, although there is little in the way of supply, I've got a tonne at Johore Bharu and mersing for my bombers - which means Singapore will be flush with supplies by next turn.  The best news is, although the shipyards were damaged, the heavy industry was not (and other resources weren't too bad).  With the heavy industry intact, I just need to supply oil and resource (which I've got tons of nearby) to start producing supplies to get things set right.
 
Just freed up 200 Sallies, umpteen naval bomber squadrons patrolling for allied resupply and a LOT of firepower and engineers.  Those sallies will move to bomb Manila now, and soon I'll be celebrating victory there as well.  Once that is done, well my garrison forces are in place - my supplies are running forward, resource and oil are running back smoothly, my economy is in great shape (best it ihas ever been in a WITP game for me! Some great articles out there on how to do it well) and I'll have the lion's share of my army freed up for other operations.
 
Like slaughtering some pesky allied troops on some atolls.

Due to recognizing the difficulty of moving around defensive forces on an atoll under fire, now only a 1 to 10 ratio is required for guaranteed victory. Just land 1 division to his 10, or a battalion to his division.

For success I believe you will need:

Two (2) bananna-armed legions
Three (3) meat-eating elephants
Four (4) Liters of the juice of grapes

As if I even HAVE 10 divisions, I would not put all of my eggs in the one basket [8|].  Truth is most of my "spare" troops are earmarked for a new operation.
