Turn 133, 30th december 1943

Last turn of 1943, my army is in bad shape, I lost an army group in Ukraine, ennemy is at the gates of axis countries but:
- My lines in east prussia/white russia are relatively strong
- the carpathians mountains are a good natural defence
- my "vampires" will be unfrozen soon
- russian army is exhausted (they have too much guns to carry!!)

Let's go into 1944 with the wonderweapons!

Oshawott took the right hexes but I got a good dice roll.(Bucharest is strongly garrisonned). And romanians are sacrified!!!

Still weak vampires...

Be careful if you have strong units in Bucharest - they will get isolated when Rumania surrenders and you may not be able to get them out (I'm speaking from my own bad experience here!). You'll need whatever strong unit you can save at this point.

No Worry, I've created a corridor of german ZOC from the bulgarian border through Bucharest to the hungarian border

Turn 134, 6th january 1944

2 and a half year of fights and I'm back to the departure line....

I really don't like this mass of guards units. It reminds me bad moments.



Center

Some pressure in the center. I have no decent defence in this area



South

Romania is still on my side. Some romanians units encircled. They will surrender. So sad...

And the vampires still sucking my blood

I also noticed something weird on turn 137. Usually I get between 30k and 60k men.. very surprising

Your units are probably so low on strength and your pool big because you didn't rotate them to upgrade to new squads.

Not sure, I didn't modify my units on refit and below my special pool turn 138

The problem is when your units touch enemy units - they have no chance to switch/upgrade to new equipment then. This means they will slowly bleed to death without chance to switch to new rifle squads (infantry) or tanks (panzer).

We will see, I've set several Inf divs not in contact with russian on refit mode, including this one:

Try not to have too many units on refit at one time, you don't have enough resources to refill all. Try to rebuild few units at a time. Obviously if you're at 0 ARM and 8k men now, not much good will happen. Did you try to disband some airbases, construction units, air hqs or corps hqs or even support units and/or worst infantry divisions or to reduce MAX TOE of other HQs?

Turn 135, 13th january 1944

Romania is still mine, I evacuate north of Niemen and as usual, Memel will be the first german city to fall.

I give some space all along the front... and above all, my units destroyed in Ukraine are back even if their CV is at least divided by five.

This is hard to do for the Germans. How long does it take a unit to upgrade to new rifle squads or tanks. Just one turn?

With lucky rolls, yes

No Lucky rolls or more surely too many units on refit

Desesperatly too weak. Not even able to counterattack.

at the moment, it looks like you'll be lucky to escape the winter without another major pocket.

Have you not pushed your vampires too close to the line? I'd have thought maybe keeping them back on the Vistula region might have been a better choice

If it happens, I think it will be the north. In the center and in the South he is too far from his rail lines
