R&D Note
On this date my third x(30) fully repaired Helen research factory so I shifted them all to the Ki-49-IIa (armored) version to bring it forward a couple of months while I will let the other x(22/7) complete repair and then shift over to Helen production in April.

Other Economic Notes
I review my Air Frames every turn, tweaking production on and off. Toward the end of this month I plan to make some more investments in Engines/Naval Yards/Merchant Yards.

In other Elint gathered from Allied High Command was a communication cable:
"How many Divisions do the Japanese Have?"

As the map below shows, I was pushing thru the jungle line along the river North (with smaller units) I had given orders to my Divisions to move up that line as well, then canceled the orders, then set them to Follow a different unit to cross the river hoping to mask the true destination: Pegu.

Not sure if it worked exactly like I hoped, but I got over that damn river...

A cautionary note to the Noob -- don't make the same mistake I did:

Early in the war, I was storming ashore and Shock Attacking after the initial landings.
I did this in Miri. BIG MISTAKE.
It disabled all of the Oil and Refinaries.

Later on, I learned to be a bit more patient and in taking Balikpapan, I just used Deliberate Attack settings.
None of the Oil or Refinaries were disabled.

I might have read it earlier in some place to not Shock Attack, but there is No Lesson like the one where you get your own fingers burned.

Maybe you are right. I was checking some replay files and the Shock Attack was made a Burnei, not Miri. I thought I had also Shock Attacked Miri.

There were more Base Forces at Balikpapan/Samrinda than at Miri or Brunei, so was it just Good Luck (dice rolls) that saved the Oil/Refineries in February? I thought it was Shock Attack.

I have some construction and other engineers with the Miri invasion. None at all with the Brunei invasion, so it not just engineers.

In the Dec attacks, defending units were destroyed.
Engineer units reported destroyed in Miri (all oil/ref disabled)
No engineer units reported destroyed in Brunei (all oil/ref disabled)

In the Feb attacks, units retreated.
Engineer units reported destroyed in Balikpapan (no oil/ref disabled)
No engineer units reported destroyed in Samarinda (no oil/ref disabled)

I don't have an answer yet and I am very very concerned about the siege at Palembang. I am getting close to trying a DA. Do I need to not attack with Engineers or does it really not matter (random chance of blowing everything up).

Do I need to leave an open hex side for the units to retreat instead of trapping and destroying them in Palembang?

Definitely build the oil back at Miri! You need it.

The price will be 140k supply to repair 140 oil wells, and I need at least 10k of supply to even start repairing.

Make sure you have manpower and resource repairs turned off globally.

Your call on repairing the refineries, it does produce local fuel and supply...may depend on the scenario and other capacity.

The bulk of AV lies to the South so it makes more sense to take Nanyang out first. I want to retain ability to react to Allied attempts to re-establish supply flow once my strategy becomes apparent. After Nanyang falls, a decision will be made to move on either Sian or shift toward Changsha.

I am concerned about my own supply levels. There is a Transport unit flying supplies from Chengting to Ningsia.

Not quiet as good as I had hoped. I need another unit or two here.
I am bombing the airfield here and no damage taken from flak. Not sure if that is because not any flack in these units or because of low supply, which isn't low enough to list on the Combat Report.

DMS W-2 begins refit while under repair at Saigon
DMS W-8 taken out of commission to begin refit at Saigon
