Italy use their surprise points to eliminate the AA fire (all points?). Any points remaining are used to increase damage done.
The X is placed on the BB Strasbourg.

Italy place their A on the 1 strength CL, if it is untouched, otherwise on the other CL.
Italy stay in the sea area.

I think that France wanted the last 'A' go to the damaged CL Emile.
But perhaps it doesn't matter?

Eliminate the enemy AA fire.
Put the X on the BB, and the A on an undamaged CA.
Axis stay.
