AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/11/42

China:

Tomorrow we'll take kweilin, so interrupting the western railine that goes to Changsha. He's withdrawing every single units, not already stuck in Hengchow,Changsha,Ichan and Chungking, towards Kunming.
I keep on advancing in the south. In few weeks we'll occupy the whole central chinese rail line and will attack Hengchow.
At the same time 8 divisions have been ordered to enter in Chungking, so stopping the resources/supplies production. The 3 remamant divisions will close the envelope and clear the north-western flank from the
rotten chinese corps trying to come back from Chengtu.
In 2 weeks there should be already 3 Armies sieging Chungking ( the 1st, the 13th and the 4th) with 11 divisions, 5 Engeneer regiments, 5 heavy artillery units and 1 tank regiment.
The total amount of APs of these troops is 4000. 2 more divisions and 1 artillery units are coming ( it will take them at least 3 weeks) and i think i can master 1 or 2 more Indipendent Brigades that are at the moment in the Lanchow area.
So in one month there will be 5000/5200 Assault points at Chungking...and 300,000 men! Enough i think to take the place even if well fortified.
So the mid-term strategy ( 3-6 months ) is to hold on in Burma ( with 2 Army-15th and 25th- 4 divisions, 2 brigades,3 arty units and 2 tank regiments), keeping the actual positions; stop the allied advance at Daily and mantain the
foothold in the city and if possible counterattack ( with 2 armies-the 14th and the 16th, with 4 divisions, 2 Mix regiments 4 artillery units and 3 tank regiments). So i have to defend in these theatre and make every effort i can in China, where i have
my real chance of winning the war by the end of 1942. If Chungking falls, China is doomed. I can march and conquest Kunming, Changsha,Hengchow and connetc China with Burma, transfering a bounch of divisions at Rangoon!
But now, my real problems are in oz and Burma. Especially in the latter, where his complete air supremacy is causing a massive damage on my frontline troops.
He keeps pounding my resources centers with his Heaviests and with his medium he hits every day my troops. I desperately need to speed up the arrival of the 25th Army from Manila and at the same time i must try something to stop or at least to slow down his roaming.
In this optic, tomorrow 5 zero daitais (27 planes each) will try to ambush his unescorted B-17 over Rangoon. He's going for the resources. My planes will be based at Tavoy and Reaghen.
At the same time The Singapore Fleet is being formed. 1 CV,2 CVL and 2 CVE are already docked there, along with 2 BBs,4 CAs,4 CLs and 30 DDs ( plus a number of aux ships -PC,PG,MSW,ML etc). The 2 Air fleet is training always at Singapore. I plan to mass here 100 Long range navy bombers ( betties and Nells) with 200 Army bombers and 200 fighters in the next month.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/12/42

In China the Expeditionary Army is moving very well. Everywhere we're advancing. Today the undefended Kweilin fell and now my 23rd Army is marching towards Hengchow. In two days the base west of Kweiling will fall too, being defended only by 1 small chinese unit.
At Chungking we're ready to lay the siege on the city, while my bombers keep plastering the place every other day.
In Burma the 25th Army is 2 days from Bankok. In one week we'll be ready to move northwards. At Mandalay the 15th Army is trying to fortify the crossing river positions. A difficult task under the costant umbrella of enemy bombers.
The ambush at Rangoon didn't go: no raids today[:@]

In Northern Oz he's not moving anymore....strange. Probably he's waiting for some more units to be trhown in the meatgrinder.
With this timing at least the 5th Division will make it. It's approaching Ambonia in these days. I'm starting to feel rather safe here....

Hi, General

Don't you think you are overcomitting in Northern Oz ? I don't remember how much you advanced in SW Pacific, Rabaul, Port Moresby or Noumea, but rather than throw more troops into Northern Oz I will rather land somewhere else, in Perth or in NE Australia, as so many Allied troops are in NW Australia.

Surely i'm overcommitting down there, but he has come up with 130,000 men!!! I've numbered at least 5 complete allied divisions, plus some cav.brigades and tank regiments. I could not hold Daily with just 2 divisions.
I really thought about another landing in Western Oz,but it would have unbalanced completely my operational center, which is by now the Southern Pacific. Now that in Burma a new threat is rising, i'm quite happy not to have thrown those divisions somewhere else like noumea,Palmyra or Lungaville.
By now i'm quite sure he has strongly garrisoned all those places with marine divisions and it would have taken me tons of fuel,supplies and men.
If i let him take Daily, then it will be soon the time of Darwin, and with Darwin in his hands my supply line from Dei to homeland would be in terrible danger.
I gotta hold there till 1943, then leave in order and reposition my units in a well defended reare perimeter.
BTW, i took the whole NG and Lunga( taking Fiji in these days)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/13/42

A new allarm in Burma today( see map for details). The main front, coming from Imphal, is now composed by 10 units[X(]. The new problem, however is another threat taken on my western side. From Akyab are comming down 2 units....they'll probably be more.
I know need to know how many men and tanks there are in those 2 bodies. Some Kamikaze recon planes have been placed at Rangoon and Mouleim. I know they'll be bombed, but i do not care much. need to have more infos!
BTW, the 25th Army is unloading at Bankok. Probably i'll have the time to arrive and prepare a new defensive front between Magwe and Rangoon, while the 15th Army concentrates on the defence of Mandalay.

In Oz he doesn't dare to move...quite strange indeed. My positions are growing stronger and i manage to retreat my western flank ( only one unit is still marching), while the 16th Army is now rested and unfatigued ( with high morale!).
The 5th division is 3 days from Darwin...good! She'll make it!

Understood, the move planned in the east on your map above to fall on the Allied rear is interesting, if you manage to cut the Allied supply line you will probably win the battle.

Then, as i predicted, he spotted my poor recon chutai at Rangoon and the Storm came as expected from Diamond Harbour.
Something like 140 4 engines bombers attacked the AF. My zeros were on LRCAP from 4 hexes. 54 wasn't a bad number i thought....but the allied bombers were just too many and their box tactic prooved to be a good one!
22 bombers shot down. Many more damaged, but the exchange was 20 zeros lost in A2A[:o]...a draw i'd say but everything is below 4 to 1 is an allied victory[:@]. Now my daitais are licking their wounds at Bankok. they'll need 1 month of training now to get some decent fighting attitudes[:(]
However, the sacrifice of my brave pilots wasn't for nothing. Now i know that from Akyab 17,000 men are comming down and with them there's the dreaded 18th UK division! While the results related with the other recon mission are still not so clear.
The 25th Army is unloading at Bankok. Tomorrow every single men should be ashore and we'll start the march towards Rangoon.

In Oz, the 5th Div. is just 2 days from Darwin. In 3 days it should be completely ashore and will start the march to get to the front.
At the same time, i ordered my 16th Army to move on my eastern flank, joining the units already there ( 2 division fragments and 2 tank units with 1 Heavy Mortan Bn.), while a tank rgt will start its long range flanking movement.
He's not moving at all. I move assuming that he's already ordered to his units to move and that the fact that they're taking so much time is due to the opposition of my Land based bombers at Darwin. So i want to be there when he arrives, while the other flank ( the western one ) will be moved back and soon reinforced by the 5th Division and the 16th which is comming from Manila.

In China everything is moving. Quite impossible to take note of everything. However tomorrow another base will fall( kiunming) and my supply route for Chungking will be moving in a south-north direction. He's retreating all his units towards Kunmin.

A turn full of action.

Burma:

Very very bad news. The defeated regiment that was struggling in the jungle from akyab tryin to get to Rangoon, encountered 1 Armoured Bde,the 18th UK division and one Burma BFF. They shock attacked and the armoured bde was catapulted automatically, rivercrossing at Magwe!!!! Now my Burma railline is interrupted and i only have 1 Divisional regiment based there....too weak to attack and push him back( also because i'm sure tomorrow heavy bombings will fall on my unit). 2 more regiments are comming at Magwe and i really hope i'll be able to counterattack before the 18th will cross the river. The 25th is marching from Bankok....be fast, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The situation is really really serious. The risk is to lose the entire Burma!!!!

China:

No big news. We conquest Liuchow and tomorrow we'll start bombing Hengchow, while the 23rd army is advancing towards Kunming and the 3 shock armies are slowly laying the siege at Chungking.

OZ:

Finally he moved! 3 units are now moving westwards. There should be a division, a tank regiment and a smaller unit ( Bde?). 1 unit entered in th hex, east of Daily, controlled by me where the 16th army is arriving ( 5-10 miles today). My tank regiment has already moved for 30 miles in its flanking manouver.
Tomorrow the 5th Div will land at Darwin.
Everything is to be decided yet.

Another day of bad news.

At Magwe his armoured bde manage to get a 1-1 at the first round. Supported by hundreds of bombers i'm sure he will get it tomorrow. The rescue troops apparently stopped their move and so now it will take me 3 more turns to get some units there....too late i'm sure.
With Magwe in his hands it will be a damned problem to hold on in Burma. The 25th Army is comming, but it will take it some 10 days to get into position and by that time his main body would have crossed the river north of Mandalay.
What can i do?
Tomorrow i'll waste some exp pilots trying to suppress a bit his tanks at Magwe, but i'm sure there'll be a strong CAP from Akyab...i gotta try btw( storms forecasted).
well...have to hope his advance will have some supply problems, but i do not think so...

In China things are very slowly now. It takes forever to enter at Chungking.
Hengchow will be bombed for the next 10 days,waiting for some more units to come in.

In Oz everything is like yesterday. Only my western flank has completely reached its assigned positions and my tanks have already moved for 60 miles on my eastern flank.
The 5th is already unloading at Darwin.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/17/42

A bloody day. Again.
With some luck we've been able to hold Magwe today. Few more days and i'll probably have a chance of saving Burma.
Ok, with some order...

As planned he used every bomber he had to attack my divisional regiment at Magwe, preparing the way for the armoured brigade attack scheldued in the afternoon. I put some underexperienced zero on LRCAP from Reaghen and Mouleim. They performed not that bad and caused some headhaches to the RAF's bombers. My regiment was badly hit anyway...but my Nells at Bankok took off and delivered their ordinances on the british tanks. This slowed down their attack a bit. Then the other regiment of the 33rd division finally came in and saved the day. He obtained only a 0-1 and probably some heavy distruption/fatigue.
The 25th Army is marching as fast as possible ( see map). 2 divisions and 1 brigade should be enough to stop this attack from Akyab, while the other one from Imphal would be on the shoulders of the 15th Army, which is in a bad shape. The 38th Division is loading at Manila..will be at Rangoon in 15 days i hope.

Then in Oz...well...the biggest strike ever finally came on Daily waters. 33 planes destroyed on the ground but i manage to shoot down some heaviests! The runaway is 56 damaged and same for the repair facilities, but the bombers recieved anyhow some hits and now i have 118 zeros on LRCAP from Darwin. I won't give up at Daily, no way!
in the next map you'll see the actual ground situation. He has moved a second unit on my eastern flank. My tanks are running on his right flank, while the 16th Army marched already 20/25 of the 60 miles that divide it from the front. My western flank is on its final positions, while he's massing 3 units on his left flank....but it will take him some time to move and by that time the 5th Division will be arrived( it started today marching from Darwin).

China: ok, here tomorrow we'll get another base. Another step towards the heart of China. At the same time my 1st army entered at Chungking. For tomorrow 2 divisions will be there. The supply production is stopped by now!
Everything else is moving

In Pacific: we attacked Suva today. 1-1 and the forts are comming down. Hope tomorrow will be a bit better.
My CVs are resting at Truk, while today we started to build Munda Airfield.

....the overall situation is really complicated, but i still have some chances...if i can hold on in Burma and stop this attack probably the match will be saved. If i lose burma it will be a long, sad, terrible retreat....

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/18/42

Another turn of harsh fights.
Over Magwe the last exahusted zero daitai fought and badly lost against the spitfires from Akyab. They're in close range and are safe in their bases, while my guys need to shift every day to a new base before performing any mission...and so fatigue levels[:(]
However: i secured the Magwe front...at least for the moment being. The 25th Army is 60 miles south of Mouleim and should arrive in time before the brits bring in more reinforcements. One brigade will be moved to Mandalay to help securing the other front...while my bombers attack the 18th UK division and my troops get plastered by his.

In China he dared to attack at chungking....[:D]The result was very good! 2 division held their line with very few losses!
We conquered Tuyun today and the 23rd army is keeping a good pace towards Kunming. Hengchow will be conquered within 2 weeks and so some units finally will be eliminated!

In Oz...he's licking his wounds and so i am. My 16th Army is moving slower now...that's bad. The tanks are still moving on his flank. Some LRCAP for tomorrow both at Daily and on my eastern flank. It will cost me many good planes and pilots but i gotta try. The 5th Division has already marched 90 miles in 2 days!!![:)]
The supply situation in Oz is somehow good. 210,000 between Darwin and Daily.

In the south Pac we obtained another 1-1 at Suva...but the forts are slowing commin down...hope to get rid soon of these bastards!

Some more precise intell in Burma. The 2nd and the 18th Division are comming from Akyab. A awesome force! something like 800 APs. However i think i'll be able to hold. The 25th Army is moving quite fast and will be in its decided positions in 5/7 days.
He keeps pounding my troops, as usual.
No more news here, except for an intense naval traffic in the Bengal Sea.

In China it's taking a lot of time, but i'm gaining controll of the heart of China, which enables me to stop his supply lines and cut many of his units from any retreat route.

In Oz he has now 3 units on my eastern flank and 3 on the western. 5 units at Daily and 5 60 miles south of it. 3 units moved 120 hexes from Daily probably scared by my flanking tanks.
35/40 miles out of 60 for the 16th Army.
the 5th Div is 180 miles from Daily![:D]

What else? Oh, Suva. 3-1 today. Forts almost gone! We're gonna get it![8D]

Another bad turn. A massacre.

Let's start from Oz this time.
Hordes of 4Es came at Daily. my A6M3s manage to shot down 17 liberators, in exchange of just 3 of them , but 50 between oscars and A6M2 were caught on the ground ( they were repairing) and destroyed. Dily is again almost closed, but i simply cannot leave it! He started to bombard my eastern flank and he's ready to attack. He has 2 strong Australian division with a tank regiment....too much to handle for my 2 divisional regiments and the 16th Army still has to march 20 miles...they won't make it, unless he'll lose some more time[:(][:(][:(] My whole strategy can cruble under my feet.....[:(]
However 81 planes vs. 37 lost today...with these odds i cannot hope to win the war

In China i probably forgot( even if i check everyday) one division and she crossed the river to enter at Chungking....result is a division disabled for 3 months[:@]
Everywhere in China things are moving slow.

In Burma, the 25th Army should make it. Now the 21st div is at Rangoon and moving towards Magwe, followed by the other units of the 25th Army.
He's unloading a big TF at Akyab....sure there are more units ready to roam into Burma[:@]

Suva finally fell. those 2000 ducth were a tough nut to crack!!!!!!!!! Now the 56th Bde and the S.S.D. will be taken back to Kawalajein and Truk in order to rest for some time.

The overall situation of my fighters is depressing. The Oz an Burma campaign have completely wiped out my fighting strenght and with no results.

Today he didn't attack my eastern flank at Daily. He's probably waiting for some more troops to come in or for a pair of good air-raids of his 4Es. My 16th Army is marching at 5 miles/day....now the 2 divs are at 45 out of 60,while the HQ is at 50/60....at least 3 days...probably too much:-(
However my Bombers are trying to help the troops and slow down his attack. After the heavy raid of today his bombardment was everything but a success. That means that if the weather is on my side for 1 or 2 days i can save my flank.
The 5th is on position. Now the western flank should be considered safe.

In Burma nothing special today. My 25th Army is moving fast enough, while he's still struggling in the jungle trails.

In China everything proceeds so sloooooooow. Tomorrow we'll begin the land bombing of Chungking. Have to burn out his supplies.
What else? Hengchow will fall in a week i hope, then will be Changsha's time, but probably i'll leave a garrison to siege the city and move towards Kumming and Chungking some more units. We'll see.

Yes, it's official: the allies are coming back!
He's going to upgrade his CVs during this summer and the P-38s aren't far away....if i lose in Burma and Oz, there won't be any future for the Empire.

N.OZ.

My bombers refused to fly for unknown reason ( weather was good) and he bombed again with his 2 divs my eastern flank. His bombers destroyed my flanking tank regiment, while he now has 1 tank bde and 1 division advancing on my left. The 5th Division has been ordered to move in and cover the western flank, while the 16th is unloading at Darwin.
My 16th army is 1/2 days far from its final positions....if he attacks now he's gonna win, no way. I need 2 more days...com'on: only 2 days!!!!!!
I decided that if he's going to attack he's gonna need some air support. So probably his 4Es tomorrow will hit my eastern flank. I have to do everything i can in order to slow his attack. My zeros are now based at Daily, CAPping the flank, while 2 daitais will LRCAP Daily from Darwin. I know it's risky, cause he sees my movements and he can so decide to bomb daily and destroy my daitais...but i need 2 more days and the zeros are expendable at the present conditions.
My bombers will try again to hit his units....let's hope for some good weather!
Everything is on the edge now...we can win or we can lose the war within the next 1/2 weeks.....

Burma:

Nothing new. My 25th Army is almost arrived. Should be easier to hold now. As soon as my Divs arrive at Magwe i'll try to attack his tanks and clear the hex.....hope his UK divs are still struggling in the jungle
The 65th Bde will reinforce the positions north of Mandalay.
He keeps bombing my resources and my troops...depressing!

CHina:

3 more days and we'll attack Henchow. At Chungking the first land bombardment went quite good. He has'nt that many men and with level 3 forts won't be too hard to crack!
For the rest we're stopping the excape of his units based around Nanning, while my 12th Army is marching towards Kweyiang that, as soon as conquered, will become my advanced AF( Level 5 already) from where to bomb chungking and Kunming.

PAC:

The Shokaku is comming back to Tokyo for its upgrades, while the other CVs are resting at Truk.
Some training program have started at Manila and Singapore where are now based 2 CVs,3 CVLs and 2 CVEs, just in case the RN comes out in the area.
For the rest....mining,fortifying, building and stocking fuel and supplies.
