We have a word for that in Finland. But it is impossible to translate.
The video doesn't show up here. But if you are referring to Sisu, I do understand the term.
That's one way to translate it. This one's better

The Last Voices of World War I (History Channel)

I watched the final episode (of six) last night. We had to watch no more than one episode per night because frankly it was too upsetting. Filmed some time ago, obviously all contributors are long gone - including Harry Patch, the last British survivor who fought in WWI.

This was a selection of soldiers (and women who worked as nurses or in munitions factories) telling their World War I story. The worst episode (from a human point of view) was told by children (at the time) that saw their fathers or brothers go off to fight. As a father myself I found that absolutely heart-breaking.

Despite the sadness of the subject, if you get a chance to watch this series I would thoroughly recommend it.

I'm currently watching Sons of Anarchy, now in its fifth season. I downloaded it to my Macbook to watch it on the road, it took me a long time to figure out how to play mkv file on mac , but then I found a normal video player and was able to start watching it. It's a good thing I started watching it, it's an amazing show, one of the best I've ever seen. It's about a biker club that deals with crime, and with each season you realize that being a criminal isn't profitable or fun. The characters are all completely different and each one evokes a different emotion, with something going on in each episode. All in all, you won't get bored while watching it, I recommend everyone to watch it.

I am watching a lot of stuff by PBS America (most of which I've found really interesting and well done) and the Sky History Channel (perhaps a little more hit and miss).

Recent excellent series include Ken Burns Civil War (no explanation necessary) and The Royal Mob. The latter concentrated on four of Queen Victoria's 40+ grandchildren, namely the four female Hesse children. One became the wife of Nicholas II, and one married his uncle. A third married the brother of Kaiser Wilhelm while the fourth married Prince Louis of Battenburg (and she became grandmother to the late Duke of Edinburgh). Their stories were of course set against the build up to World War I and the end of the German and Russian Royal families as a result of events in that war. Very watchable.

I would add some comments but they may be considered political.

Past Sunday I went to movie theater in town to watch Sisu. Essentially an action movie with Lappland War theme. Germans speak English, because maybe somebody decided it is better for actors to speak comprehensible English instead incomprehensible German. Tank in the movie is way off, likely T-55 with AAMG in place. I make a guess it was more readily available to the filming location than a working StuG, but couldn't they have at least remove the external MG? Otherwise over the top action about 1 man army against a tank and understrength Nazi platoon. I liked the visuals, locations, and Rovaniemi in flames.

US and the Holocaust (BBC 4 and PBS America). This three episode, six hour series by Ken Burns (narrated by Peter Coyote) is required viewing for anyone interested in World War II. Shocking, tragic and surprising in equal measure, it is absolutely riveting. Thoroughly recommended.

Recently I watched a movie: Convoy. One where American truckers give a finger to a corrupt sheriff. I enjoyed it. Would have been better with some beer...

World On Fire (BBC) Series 2 started recently. Series 1 was World War II for the Facebook generation, saved only by the superb Lesley Manville and Sean Bean.

Series 2 sees Sean Bean killed off (shocker.... :D ) which loses 40% of the quality - at least Lesley is still around. That leaves a script that is.... erm..... embarrasing is probably the kindest way to describe it. Not sure who the baddies are at the moment but the British appear to have taken pole position

I'll keep watching as I'm interested to see just how absurd it can possibly get.... :o

Auschwitz In 33 Objects (PBS)

More quality from PBS. Some of the real life stories are just incredible. If a few of these were put in a film people would say it was rubbish and couldn't have happened.... A Pole-conscripted in the German army, (and about to be sent to Italy) was allowed to visit his brother - a political prisoner in Auschwitz!!

Maybe World On Fire (BBC) isn't the complete load of claptrap it appears to be.... er no, it really is :D
