I reread this AAR. It was and still is amazing.
Despite working for the US NAVY for 7 years and riding many ships, I learned more about steam then they ever taught me (Darn Gas turbines).

Was the book ever published?
Is there a chance we can get it online in some form?

I don't normally read AARs but was bored and started scanning the AAR section stumbling on this due to its pure size. Then noticed when it started with politely, heck! Wonder how it ended and when?

I've not read it all and never will, just the last five pages but it does show just how truely epic this game is and too spend so long playing a single game both players deserve huge plaudits to finish it. Then there's the writting ....

Is there another game like this! No and probably never will be which is sad.

This is one of the top 3 AAR's ever written. A must read for EVERY player or wanna be player. Seriously.

The writing style here is almost professional. The perspective, a member of the "black gang", unique. The insights into tactics, particularly air tactics, are required reading. Herbie is one of the very best air tactical players. When he talks about those tactics, read slow and parse everything.

Other than that, just enjoy a really great read!

You all should read Small Ship, Big War in the orginal War in the Pacific Thread if you haven't already.
