By the way, according to my scouts it is 3CVL and 1 CV plus escorts.
Run.

What are Banshees?
Army SBDs IIRC.

See above post. In the last game my battleships were down here and ambushed a couple of invasion TFs. I think I was too predictable. He came looking for BBs. Also there is ahoard of merchant ships just to the east. You can see them on my map. I think he is also after them.
The Banshees are part of the Mare Bellum mod. They are good at killing ships.

Yeah. That sounds like a bit more serious than the CVE junk you see in stock. Probably have airgroups in the 70s too. I have become convinced that the only reason the Indomitable survived in my game is because aside from the Shoho, his other two CVEs had crap XP airgroups.

Those probably won't fly against strong cap either without strong escort.
After looking at the map this must be a raid. He's trying to catch your warships in the Java Sea. Bend like the reeds in the wind my young padawan. [:D]

Okay, I am going to run, at full speed they do 4/4. But right now I am going to bed. Thank you gentlemen.

Army? Probably not. They do not look favorably upon taking risks.

Well, you can always line the path of the carrier TF with planes and hope something flies. You could get lucky. Even a bomb hit or two could lay a carrier up in a repair yard for a while.
Its sort of like in the movies when the bad guys rob a bank and all the townspeople line up to shoot at them as they ride away. Sometimes they get lucky and wing one or two.

Now my next question is; which way do I run. Do I try and outwit him and go straight west on the map or straight east? I do not think I want to make for Darwin.

I would run for Ambonia. Rounding the bend of Sulawesi should put him off his stride a bit.

Per my Reconnasance, I think those carriers are the Shokaku, Zuikaku, Zuiho and Ryujo. That means top task force speed is 5/5 while mine is 4/4.

The key point for today is that the battleships got away for now. With the carriers this far south I am going to run 2 of them north to Batavia to spring an ambush when the Bombarbment TF comes a calling.
The noose is starting to tighten in the Phillipines and Malaya. I have managed to get supply into Singapore.
The A-24s in the Phillipines are starting to make a real nuisance of themseles.
Kavieng has fallen and I need to consider evacing the Rabaul units to Port Moresby where they will be more useful.

Glad those BBs got away.
So what is the basis for Ts mod? Sounds like fun but with all the extra fire power the allies have did he add to Imperial Japan as well?

I'd have thought so as he's playing Japan [;)]
