It's a Leander 2TA correct Sirius, wrong individual ship though mate, she's HMS Phobe. I'll give you the bonus, so you get 4pts mate.

Flank, keep it in mind and I'll use the ship it's from the round after next. If you get the ship right I'll pay the bonus point. so stay tuned for Round 9.

Nice pick up Dan, you weren't the first. I had a non-competing member of the forum PM me the correct answer. Regardless since you are part of the comp, you pick up the 2 points for the correct answer and the lead on the ladder as well.

Here's the full pic of the Atlantique:

Ok I'm trying to keep the competition moving along at a reasonable pace. Flanker wanted a chance at picking up bonus points for IDing a radar the round before last.

OK I'll upload the same radar but from a different photo. Bonus points apply.

CLUE:Nil

REQUIRED:Vessel class name & operating country

BONUS: Extra point for correct identification of the vessels's primary radar. (first clue)

That's the lead-ship of the Kortenaer-class frigates, when she was still in service with the Dutch navy as F-807 Kortenaer. She currently serves in the Hellenic navy as F-462 Kountouriotis.

The radar depicted is the primary long-range 2D AS radar, Signaal's LW08. Pretty good set for its era, but somewhat low data-rate (slow rotation) and usually supplemented by faster-rate, shorter-range sets in order to cope with pop-ups.

But it also could be the F 801 Abu Dhabi [ex F816, HrMs Abraham Crijnssen], or the F 802 Al Emirat [ex F811, HrMs Piet Heyn] .

I do not think that is possible now to name the vessel on the picture. It was the first thing what came in my mind.

I have seen some of them in Dutch harbours.

This a Dutch Forum with lots of nice pics of all kind of Dutch naval vessels. Partly in English.

I expected a little competition from our Dutch members and our Greek photo ID expert on the list. [:)]

Sunburn scores the maximum three points for correctly identifying the lead ship of the Kortenaer Class, (F-807 Kortenaer) and it's primary air search radar the Signaal LW 08.

I'd like to thank Taitennek for passing along the link for the Dutch naval photos site.

Cheers

Darren

Now you're filling the shoes of an anti-aircraft gunner, your Sargeant has asked that you learn to identify the following aircaft.

CLUE: Operated by air forces on 4 continents.

REQUIRED: Aircraft service name (the name given by the service that operates this aircraft) and tied in with that, the operating country itself.

BONUS: Nil

Dan's submitted the correct answer already and in a gentlemenly spirit he's deferred his public answer for now. He's right with the fin, it's very distinctive, so the first clue is actually a dead giveaway if you know your attack aircraft.

Dagooz, nice try mate, but it's not the RAF and that might just cause an issue with the naming of the aircraft. Sorry even though you're so close it hurts, no prizes for your excellent effort. Here's another clue.
