"The Hit List" is -all- hits to date. It's not just hits for that week. It allows for late-coming sunk messages. But yes, it does grow (in length), and hopefully will get -very- large! It is a standard width tho, and should fits well onto a resolution 1280 wide.

[;)]

Many thanks for following my AAR. Altho I wouldn't be surprised if there are plenty following this for the sole porpose to insure that I "put up, or shut up" on much of my advice!

[:D]

Actually, another week has passed (and so another update coming this weekend, probably Saturday).
Teaser - Heavily armed Japanese surface raiders intercept a convoy west of Fiji!

veji1, I have the same problem and it seems to be browser related. With IE it's working here, Firefox doesn't like the sheet though.
Feinder, what kind of information is that, a graphic you add into the post or a copy-paste from excel or something else?

More game related I wonder what you use this information for, Feinder. I imagine it's quite a task to keep track of all this stuff and I see no big value in keeping that information except for the bigger warships of course.

Holy schnikeys! It -does- look like crap in Firefox (and probably Mac too then).

I run IE at home and never thought to check to see what it looks like on Firefox. But I run it concurrent here at the office - I'm a web developer, and pull up different browsers to see that things don't look like he gawd-awful mess that you're seeing my report as.

Hm.

Interesting.

What I'm doing is simply taking a .txt file (with tabs), and and putting it between code tags, then pasting it into the post. IE -does- screw up the formatting (altho not that bad). So I have to "fiddle" with the tabs in my file, so that they line up for IE.

A screen shot is going to quickly get too long, altho I don't suppose it would really be a problem.

"The usefulness of this report" - Well, it's kinda a mixture of things.
a. When I have a crappy turn, I can pull up the report and see "Chiyoda...sunk" and it makes me feel better. [:D]
b. Frankly, all the fricken marus sound the same. If I hit the same d_mn ship for 3 days in a row, I can check the report to know that I only sank one ship, not three.
c. It gives me a good idea of what it takes to kill something, by comparing how badly damaged a ship is, with it's contemporaries, I can usually make a reasonable guess as whether a ship is gonner or not.
d. Just as it is likely to tell me if something is sunk (altho not yet confirmed), it also tells me when something was hit, and by what. I can also see when something was hit (and damaged), and then re-appeared again (giving some indication of repair time). Example, I'll be interested when I start seeing Ryujo's air-groups showing up again, and that gives me a fair idea of how long it takes for a CVL to repair the damage from penetrating 250# bomb.
e. True, I don't -really- care about all the APs and AKs that get sunk. I'm more interested in the warships, and definately the capital ships. I might be persuaded to remove the smaller ships from this list in the future. But for now, it pretty much has the same value as when my 2-year old points to potty and says, "Hey Daddu! Look what I did!" [;)]

I'll see about putting it into a spread-sheet or something, but I'm really lazy, so it might take a few days.

Feinder,

I follow your AAR not because of "put up, or shout up" but because it has:

1.  Nice maps
2.  Succinct combat summaries placed on maps
3.  Realistic and sensible, non gamey, Allied play
4.  Displays play of a knowledgeable, in terms of (a) interface, (b) game mechanics, (c) historical real world logistical and practical limitations, Allied player

Thanks for the compliments gentlemen. If AARs like this make you want to do your own AAR, it's comments like your own that make me want to spend the time to continue it.

A - Japanese Army units continue to push down the Malay Pensula. The city-state of Taiping falls after only 2 days, and in the south, Japanese forces push the remnents of the Aus 16th Bde from Jahore Bahru, effectively cutting off the troops to the north. Fortunately, all combat formations were able to cross the isthmus to Singapore, before the fall of Jahore Bahru. Gen. Percivall has a dark feeling that this may have only been postponing the inevitable.
B - The Allies are able to gather a motley collection of RAF, RAAF, and RDAF bombers to the airfield at Singapore. They attack a convoy at Kuantan, and damage several transports, also no ships are confirmed sunk. It is most likely too little, too late.
C - Japanese medium bombers are deployed forward to their newly captured airfields, and begin the deadly task of reducing Singapore's defences.

A - Japanese Army units push the Philippino defenders from Bagaio, and prepare to assault Clark Field and Lingayan. Bombers from Formosa contiue to pound the city of Manilla. The short-lived Philippino Air Force, once proud and full of ferver, has found that obsolete P-26 and P-35s will do little to stop the might of Japanese air power. The last few pilots are order to fly out, taking with them President Quezon and some Army nurses. Gen. MacArthur is ordered to stay behind and assured that a relief convoy with the 25th Div and 2nd USMC Div is on it's way.

A - Japanese SNLF forces finally force the surrender of Tarakan and Kendari. Bombers are quickly deployed to the airfields, where the begin the reduction of the KNL pocket at Samarinda.
B - The Makassar Straight again proves "target rich" for RDN submarines. This time K-XIV lines up the battlecruiser Kirishima. Cmd Muurten watches as his torpedo impacts the stern of the vessel. He is quickly forced to dive from pursing enemy destroyers, but manages to signal Soerebaja that he has crippled a battle cruiser. Allied aircraft launch the next day, and attempt to sink the "crippled" ship. However, the blow must have been only glancing, as a Kingfisher finally finds Kirishima making full steam, appearently no less the worse for having been hit the night before.
C - USAAF bombers are finally arriving in theater, to replace the heavy casualties by RAF, RAAF, and RDAF forces. B-25s strike the newly captured airbase as Kendari, but the inexperienced crews yield inconclusive results.

A - The Japanese commerce raiders Aikoku Maru and Hokoku Maru intercept a convoy convoy west of Fiji. They are able to sink the shepherding escort, and quickly dispatch another transport before the conoy is able to scatter. The following morning, they chase down another merchant, and she too is sent to the bottom.
B - Their carreers as raiders prove to be short lived however. An RNZAF Hudson from Suva has picked up the distress calls, and has been shadowing the pair throughout the night and the following day. The USS Lexington who was patrolling to the north, vectors her strike to meet the shadowing Hudson, where they are lead to their prey. Under a hail of bombs and torpedos, the promising carreers of Japan's two commerce raiders pass into the depths.
C - A cruiser squadron is dispatchd to bombard the anchorage at Jaluit. They manage to catch a squadron of minesweepers re-provisioning in the harbor. The battle is over all too quickly, and 3 Japanese minesweepers are sunk. The US cruisers shell the atoll and retreat before daylight. SOC-3 Seagulls sent the following morning to asses the damage report that several auxillary vessels are burning at the anchorage, and a Mavis flying boat lies half sunken near her tender. The cruisers return south to rejoin Lexington.

It must have been either FoW or just a glancing blow on Kirishima. While it does say, "Belt armor penetration", there is no geyser, and no following message (like "listing" or "critical damage" or whatever).

Also, the Kingfishers who found her the next morning, show no indications of damge (if she was hurt, I'd have expected to see some smoke, but otherwise, she has only marginal Sys Dmg).

Nice AAR Feinder - not that I have the time to read it as much as I'd like.

I did want to stop in and encourage the non-combat.txt format. I really don't like those much myself either.

Cheers

Feinder - they way I read this made it sound like these are the only two commerce raiders Japan has. However, in CHS 160 (which is pretty similar to 156) there are actually 4 commerce raiders. Two of which have the ability to carry a couple floatplanes.

Just thought I'd mention it so you could keep a look out... sometime those buggers can get pretty far into the backfield with their massive endurance.

This is weird.... wonder if anyone knows an answer?

Using Firefox (by far my preference, Feinder's detailed breakdown of activity overflows as in the screen shot, making the whole thing unreadable. When I look in IE7 I get no such problem.

Anyone got any clues for me?

Using Firefox (by far my preference, Feinder's detailed breakdown of activity overflows as in the screen shot, making the whole thing unreadable. When I look in IE7 I get no such problem.

Anyone got any clues for me?

I have the same problem[:(] and can't figure out what's going on, probably some plug-in or something is missing.
