Since you're playing against Ike I assume ship settings were 100%, right? If so release depends on your loses and what you've sent back to PH for repair. Would the 1st quarter of '43 intersest you for new ships? Essex shows before that, thankfully.
Hi Borner,
Anything damaged 35% and above I send back to Tokyo usually and anything I´m not using. I think Todds right. The more you send back the more they send you it seems.
I do not remember the settings. I think we discusses 120% for the Japs at the start, but that was months ago.
Were at 100% Todd. So I should be dead soon.[:D]

No, Not soon. I give you until at least the summer of 43 [8D]
Unless I think something is going to happen I send things about between 20-25%. I have not had many ships damaged to that extent though.[:D] The game is not even half-over though, I am sure that will change greatly soon. [X(] Oh, and you were correct, your point lead has increased slightly, just over 2600 now I think. I need to send my Subs back out to your shipping lanes.

The last tiem you tried to "fix" that, you lost half your carriers. You sure you are up for another round already?

Note to self - when a though crosses your mind that starts with "why don't I try this", it is usually not a good idea. [:-] At least this time my losses were smaller. I tried a long range sweep mission with my few p-38's over Guadacanal. Lost 10 for my trouble, IKE lost 4 Zeros for the turn. [:@] I did see that he is flying CAP again over IRAU. I will stick to killing Zeros there for a while.

yeah, but after I stir it up, they will have to fly a while to get to Irau, I do not think that airfield has been useable for a while. As for keeping the garrison supplied, loosing 150+ men on each raid has to make that easier.

speaking of supplies, the last few turns I have tried to cause some damage to IKE's barge-train running to Irau. I only bagged about 20 so far, but it's a start.

We both had a DD hit mines, his sunk, mine didn't. [:D] He also lost 2 MWS last turn, and another DD in a one-on-one battle. (I got very lucky). [&o] It's not much, but I know how depressed IKE was by not seeing any of my ships, so I wanted to keep his spirits up. OH, and IKE, not too long until my 2nd wave of Flattops starts arriving. Still think your point lead is large enough? [:-]

Seventeen spaces or less is within
normal flight range for the A6M2 Zero. Distance is not a problem.

20!?[:-]...like 5.
Just 200 more to go. [>:] But by your numbers...20 barges for 1
submarine...hmmmm...that´s a fair trade I think. Actually the DD that struck the mine was the one that was sunk in the destroyer-vs-destroyer engagement. After she hit the mine that ripped her bottom open I knew she´s never make it to port so I moved her in Irau hoping to hit a PT boat before she went down...met your DD. Check her name. She was a good destroyer though...a
very good destroyer. [:(]
Still think your point lead is large enough?
Two weeks ago (game time) you reported a 2600 pt. Japanese lead. This lead is now 3,000 and still growing. Check back in 2 more weeks and see what it is. [:)]
Better hussle up. Barges and mine sweepers are not going to cut the mustard. But...I don´t believe your attacking until after the new year. I have no problem. Supply situation is excellent.
OH, and IKE, not too long until my 2nd wave of Flattops starts arriving.
I bet they don´t come too far north though. My Heros in Zeros would cut a path through your CAP in 3 seconds and 50 Bettys would do the rest. These have ¨
target¨ written all over them.
Off topic....kinda.
I see
Saburo Sakai in the game but I don´t see
Toshio Ohta or
Hiroyoshi Nishizawa. Are they not there or am I missing something? If they are not there shouldn´t they be there?
Some good friends of Borner´s [;)] He has a lot more
very good friends. They give flying lessons to his P38 pilots over Irau and Lunga occasionally.

May I ask where the term KB originated?
I didn´t think Japanese characters would show up on here...guess they will.
航空母艦
Koku Bokan
Aircraft Carrier
進撃部隊
Shingeki Butai
Strike Force
Put these two together and shake them around a little bit and you get....
機動部隊
Kido Butai
Carrier Strike Force
Not a literal translation though. Mobile Striking Force....with the mobile part being the Aircraft Carrier.
y bueno...¨KB¨ [:)]

yes, those good friends you refer to killed 10 Oscars last turn for only 3 P-38's. I will add that squardon to the two that I tore apart over Guadacanal last week. Imagine what I will do when I have more than 2 p-38 groups to fly at you. I guess you are going to have a few Heros in Zeros, and lots of green replacements flying with them at this rate.
Your Bettys have target written all over them? Strange markings. What did you do, draw black circles inside your rising sun? It will at least give my pilots a good target to aim for.

It's only Dec 5th Ike, what's your hurry? Besides, our schedule is pretty full, what with Pearl Harbor day coming up, then Christmas, and New years, plus bombing you if the weather ever clears. Don't worry, I am planning on visiting your bases soon enough. I see one of my Subs hit another tanker. You must be running pretty low on those by now.

Borner invades Gili-Gili...I think..and hits a few mines.

I actually sent in a few APD's worth of troops, as more of a raid than anything else, and to test IKE's reaction. I ended up having 2 APD's damabed by mines, but repairable. He replied by sending nearly all his bombers to ground strike my men, and sending a real Regiment to reinforce the naval Garrison unit he had there. Things did not go exactly as I had mapped out, as the first time my TF hit the mines, it fell back, which put me off by a turn. I had hoped to catch his TF's running to Gili-Gili with my carriers, but no luck. Ike also has had several DD's/CL's hit mines over the last few weeks. Losses are far easier for me to take at this point than for him.
Still, for the cost of a few hunderd troops that will be replaced, it gave me some vaulable intel on IKE's reactions.
Now all I am waiting on is Pearl to start sending me more ships.

The Japanese are creatures of the night Borner.[;)]
He replied by sending nearly all his bombers to ground strike my men,
Around 100...I got over
300. I sent about 1/3 of my bomber force. Stretch their legs a little.
