You need to ask my opponent that. Some of the survivors of the battle slipped past the KB as it sped up the Java Sea, but I don't think they're home free. There are also three or four heavies limping towards Batavia, and I think they're dead meat. Fuel is a bit low, but the stew pits of Saigon are calling once I finish here.

This was a lesson learned from you. Stay away from the Palembang/Kuching axis! (Especially in RHS where there's no good reason to keep the Japanese out of Kuching.)

AI-initiated. It's a Soviet-Union active RHS scenario. Hopefully, nothing will happen.

Cid tells me that this occurs in all the RHS active scenarios. Not to worry as long as the Allied player doesn't get pi$$ed.

Malaya Campaign Report

After a contested landing at Kota Bharu (1), the front was stalemated here until reinforcements arrived thru Victoria Point into Alot Star (2).

Allied aircraft continued harrasing Japanese shipping using all airports in malaya to disperse against Japanese counterattacks.

More or less at the same time around 1st January both Alot Star and Kota Bharu positions collapsed, and a quick Allied retreat has ended at Johore Bahru (3), where the Malaya AG forces have made a stand to try to contain the Japanese forces

A quick question, were the allied forces in malaya routed several times or did the manage to retreat before japanese forces could catch up with them?

Meaning: are they now divisions at batallion strength or not [;)]

They don't look too good from the Japanese side. I managed to f**k up the campaign early, with the Imperial Guards ending up in the jungle, but it's all coming together now. I expect to be finished by the end of January or early February.

12 Jan

Air strikes on Malang and Pamekasan.
Buna captured.

Nothing happening.

I will comment that there are two things about the LCU model that cause me to grit my teeth.
1. The tendency of units to go off the tracks when I order them to a given destination. I currently have a bunch of LCUs parked in places that they've wandered to when I ordered them somewhere else. There are two divisions and two regiments in Malaya that are cutting through the jungle on 'short cuts'. There are four regiments in Luzon, crossing the mountains on similar short cuts. There's a corps in Burma doing the same. This is the first time I've played the Japanese, so I've never realised how disfunctional the land movement model is. It's almost as bad as the naval movement model.
2. The effectiveness of light artillery bombardments in causing a movement to stop dead in its tracks. I'm trying to redeploy a division in the Philippines--every turn I restart it moving, and every turn a light artillery bombardment resets it to 0. Having been a ground tactical analyst, I find this exceedingly unrealistic.

Arawe surrenders.

Air strikes on Cavite, Sarong, and Tarakan.

I can't get a unit to move into the adjacent hex via a railroad line. It insists on detouring over a mountain path into a second hex containing an enemy unit.
