The new boxcover is displayed along with a bunch of screenshots on the "Games" page.  Prior postings suggested this was a sign the product was approaching release.  Perhaps they will be released at the same time, and perhaps there'll be a discount for buying both at the same time.

According the Matrix Newsletter that was just released, it looks like October is the target for release of both Battleground bundles.

I was pretty excited about this when it was first announced.

Two years ago.

Any chance that we'll see this before Christmas, or will it keep on being 'soon' and 'next month' until 2027?  Sorry to sound cranky, it's just a little frustrating. :(

It's defo touted for October...it was in the Matrix newsletter and last I heard, they were doing stuff to/with the manual, which generally says release is imminent

Things don't always go as I planned but they should be out before Christmas.

Well that doesn't sound good...........we go from end of July to end of August, to October (according to newsletter just released) and now you are saying by Christmas...........thats 2 months after October..................It's getting harder and harder to believe anything Matrix says about a game release [&:] !!!!!!!!

Oh, I know. That's why I've only asked twice in two years. :D

I'm looking forward to this; the only one I ever actually played, back in the day, was Gettysburg.

I didn't say Christmas I just said it should be before Christmas that is all. This is NOT a game issue as it is a manual problem and not being able to do things the way we normally do.

We setup a good package at a great price and on top of that a discount off of both games if you purchase both games at once.

David

Well if the manual is the only holdup (manual.........we dot need no stinking manual [:D] ) I smell a possible compromise here, I think the largest percentage of people waiting on this release are old Tiller Battleground/HPS vets who know the rules and game system backwards and forwards, you have said this is strictly a re-release of the SAME system just upgraded to XP/Vista standards so the game itself hasnt changed..............give the people who want the option of buying now with the understanding, CLEARLY STATED BEFOREHAND WITH NO BITCHIN ALLOWED, this is an incomplete manual with the final version being provided as a free d'load when finished! [&o]

Makes perfect sense to me. Actually, an even better idea would for Matrix to give everyone who has been posting here a free copy of the games "as is" to reward our loyalty and patience (well for some of us anyway). [:D]

Seriously, it will be out when it's out. I'm not holding my breath or anything. I've got all the new HPS Campaign series to keep me busy.

Hey Rhonda...keep popping back? [:D] wb. Looking forward to this one then?

I have to say, it might be nice. I've been playing FoF for the last two weeks, getting right into the rules and winning my detailed battles (barely). Got loads of strategic stuff to think about and even more to correct (errors made...commanders sent to the wrong unit, sending arty across the country unescorted only to lose it because it's in a province now occupied by the enemy!!)

Point is, I'm lloking forward to it for purely a tactical game on the CW.

(does this post count if they decide to hand out free games? [:'(])

As usual, I concur completely with Rhonda.
A couple of months ago when all of this BG talk started, I got HPS Franklin, completed that and moved on to HPS Atlanta. I'm still defending Atlanta (Hood's idea, not mine) and waiting for the BG series release.

Hey Judge,

I'm sticking around waiting for this one, after it's released... well, I don't know how much you'll see of me. I'll drop in occasionally, but I'm too busy at school these days to devote much time to gaming. I have a Campaign Gettysburg PBEM game going with a great fellow from England and that's been about it. I moved to Pinon this summer and am now teaching Computer at a very troubled school in the very most isolated part of the Navajo reservation. There are a lot of fights and discipline issues, but I'm doing fine with my students using my own combination of caring and patience. I've got students who are on probation for assault, but we do very well together. Some of the teachers here are really violent with their students, slamming them into walls, and verbally abusing them. I've seen stuff that would have gotten a teacher fired back at Tsaile, but it seems like anything goes here. The High School Principal was knocked out by a student and was in the hospital for three days with a concussion. Our Middle School PE teacher got attacked by a high schooler last year and got his eye socket fractured before smashing his attacker's head into a wall and giving the student a concussion (the teacher was retired USMC and not to be messed with). It's different here than it was at Tsaile. They were pretty desperate in their recruiting to get me out here. My reward is a $158,000 computer lab being installed next month so I'll be supervising three labs total. The down side is that it is a Macintosh district that severely limits my ability to introduce gaming simulations now that I'm in a position (and have the support to do so). The new lab will include some simulation software though. Once Apple gets their BootCamp out of Beta and once we get the desktop machines upgraded to the new Intel Mac's I should be able to get something going. That's another huge reason for my continued interest in the BG series reissue.

I turn 60 on October 9th... whew... that's a milestone for you. I'm feeling my age <sigh> Embedded is a photo taken back in August during a Jeep tour of the Canyon de Chelly that my new school provided as part of our orientation. I* might mention that Pinon is definitely "high desert" and is also known as "the place where the paved roads end" because there is one road in and everything outbound north, west, and south are all unimproved dirt roads with washes and streams to ford when the rains come. In other words, my kind of wilderness. My son was out here for a visit and we were all over the place in my Jeep... relying upon the GPS to get us back once we were hopelessly lost in the middle of nowhere.

Anyway, take care, and thanks for the warm thoughts!
