Well, honestly, when it its a decision between supporting outdated, obsolete hardware, or supporting hardware made in the last decade,...they would be wise to support newer hardware. People can and will upgrade,...the computer game industry is built on that fact,.....but nobody is going to downgrade to play your games.

Reality check :
Game designed to run in 1650x1280
-> Gamer with Vista 1650x1280 can run it
-> Gamer with Win2X 1027x768 cannot run it
Game designed to run in 1024x768
-> Gamer with Vista 1650x1280 can run it
-> Gamer with Win2X 1027x768 can run it
A no-brainer indeed

Thanks for the opinion. If this is true, then this game rather sound like shareware than professional. No wait...Batte for Wesnoth is even Freeware and has high resolution support as well as low resolution. So this design decision rather sounds like a joke and the argument "most customers have still have WIN2k" as excusation for a lazy developer. Sadly the game costed the same like a professional game and he was not so lazy while cashing in my money.[&:]

I have a 1280x1024 monitor, and I think the game looks good. Whine if you want, but you're speaking into the void.

Why do not you run in windowed mode?
How?? I tried to change "windows_mode 0" to "1" under the settings file but the screen didn't change.

settings.txt in the Documents/CEAW folder on your PC, that is the one game is using.

I have a 22" wide screen monitor and a dvi port with a nvidia gforce 8600GT,
Does anyone happen to know what the native resolution for that card is and what would best run on my monitor?
My resolution is set to the max at 1680 by 1050. is that too high for what I have?

There is a similiar thread about the REVERSE issue on another forum here at Matrix. Basically its about a game that requires a higher resolution than 1024X768. Many people have complained that it will not run on their laptops.
The point I keep trying to make is very simple. Multiple resolutions. Problem solved. Make the game play on low AND high resolutions.
If you have no choice, you must go with the lower resolution simply because of the genre. War gamers typically DO NOT have high end PC's. They dont need them.
But you have a choice. Make it wisely, and you dont get these type threads.
