What is the deal with VCT-17? Where and when is it supposed to come in?

Per Sid it is supposed to come in as a squadron on a carrier (escort I think) in one or more of the hypothetical scenairos and is not part of the CVO family. I did verify it shows up right in the other scenairos.

I think it is one of those night fighter squadrons on a CVL in the EOS family - imitating real CVLs with dedicated night fighter groups. In EOS we converted a few more CLs to CVLs as an Allied response to a stronger IJN threat.

Not sure if this fix is in the version you are just releasing (don't have it yet) - AK George Davidson, a Liberty Ship, appears at Portland at game start or within a very few days of game start.
Also, look at the hexside between 22,50 and 21,49. It appears that it is possible to walk from Malaya to Sumatra!

Good eye!
Yes - it is - if you want to walk without a trail to a swamp with nothing in it.
The pwhex coding is to permit ships to pass where they could do so. Note that in this narrow strait crossing should be possible - without even a trail it is a "ULCF" (Ultra Low Capacity Ferry)???
It might be better to code it sea only - but land units on the Sumatra side then could not walk up the coast. Since it is a bloody awful walk - and since we clearly are only allowing land units to be on the Malay side - that would be better. Since there is no where to go and no point in going there - and even AI won't try - it is not worth fixing all by itself. But if we ever do another pwhex - it is worthy of changing.

George Davidson is indeed appearing early - but it is not obvious to casual observation. The first US Liberty Ship dated from 27 Sept 1941 - so you cannot just tell by the lack of a date. This time the date should be 5 May 1943. And no, it did NOT make the cut. But you will see it in the next one - whenever that might be?
