Terje439, that is/was a great book.  I love the way Hart explains things.

Yea, and I also like the fact that he got to interview german officers. Kinda makes me believe what he writes more than some kid born in the 80s [;)]

Just started On the Beach.

Just listened to BBC Radio Four poll for the best post apocalyptic book and On the Beach came 2nd. Great book, haunting, some of the scenes stay with you for a long time. Try playing Defcon to put you in the mood.

Yeah, I read this maybe 20 years ago and felt like a re-read. As for Defcon, I find it a little detached/sterile to get that creeped out.... maybe that sould bother me more....[&:]

Favourite book on the subject of nuclear war is Fail Safe.

I know...I probably get 1 maybe two books read a year!!! Too many other things going on in my life!

I've been an incorridgible bookworm since my mother taught me to read at the age of 5 (yes I grew up in a time when mothers actually taught their own choldren to read BEFORE pawning them off on school teachers).

My house is literally overflowing with stacks of books in every room. Twice a day I take daily "constitutional" walks to get out of the office environment and allow my "head" to go somewhere else. I invariably spend these walks with my face buried in a book. The people who live in the neighborhood around my office regularly make comments about my multitasking skills with regard to walking and reading and I am well known as "that guy who reads while taking his walks".

On average I read about 4-6 books a month.

I read comics. I get every translation of Commando serie that comes out, every month, every year + some old ones that hit my eye on shops.

Other serie I read right now, is Yoko Tsuno made by Roger Leloup. At first I was amused about belgian comic, where main character is japanese woman. But serie is one of the best I've read! First english translations are coming out right now, over 30 years after the first release in Belgium. For those who know other European languages, I recommend make visit to library's comic bookcase [;)]

There are some good books listed in this thread!! I especially like the Terry Pratchet ones [:D]

I'm currently reading Midnight's Lair by Richard Laymon. A no brainer, formulaic horror. Next on my very long list is Das Boot by Lothar-Gunther Buchheim. The mini-series was exceptional, so I'm hoping the book will be better.

Yes, I bought the Das Boot DVD after watching the mini series...truly an atmospheric and excellent programme.

The book is better than the film or the series, because it describes in a better way the eyeryday routine on board & how the crew get "trigger-happy" after waiting a long while to meet & engage an allied convoy etc.

at Judge enjoy the dvd, but i highly recommend to read the book. [:)]
