A 1.8GHz machine will most certainly be able to run AE. I personally have a 2.2GHz dual-core, so I REALLY have no problems.

I don't think AE will be as buggy as most new products, although there will certainly be SOME issues.  It is, after all, an expansion of a fairly well developed package.

So, to answer the original question -- nope.

It will be many months - possibly a year - before AE is wholly debugged and updated.

Further - there is too much Matrix does not do - so we will need time to modify AE to the standards we prefer.

I estimate active gaming in the RHS community for a minimum of 6 months - and much more likely a year - after the release of
AE.

That said - we do intend to migrate over - and to bring to AE things Matrix has decided not to do - like offer the ability to damage or repair or build infrastructures on a larger scale than we do now (on a demonstration basis) - and similar enhancements. It will take a while. Dave Bradley - our installer/switcher programmer - and I have been exchanging email on this - and that is the plan: take a year to get an RHS version of AE out there which is as rich as we can make it.

Before that I will to a quick and dirty variation - changing pwhex and adding map locations - ships - planes - small land units Matrix eshews - etc - first.

Until these are done I will keep playing RHS - and learning how the engine works to make it better in whatever form.

While I will buy AE as soon as it comes out and start playing AI based games to get used to the changes, I will continue to play WITP mods while the bugs are being worked out of AE. Those of us who love the game love the complexity, but with the complexity comes unexpected problems that will need to be worked out. I personally like the RHS family of mods and expect to be playing them for some time even after AE comes out.

I waited too long to play my first campaign of WITP and hung on too with UV thinking WITP was too large. Ok, I was a fool. I will start a campaign of AE as soon as I think I know it well enough. If my WITP opponents want to switch over, I will do it. If not I will finish my WITP campaigns but not start any new ones.
