Comments: I have 2 EAB with Aviation Support at Ban Donn in Siam. One of them is moving towards Alor Star with 60 Aviation Support. The 18th Division, 18 RCT, RTA 3rd Division, and 2 x Eng Rgt are leaving Alor Star for Georgetown. 120 Aviation Support is unloading at Singora and will head for Georgetown which should be cleared of enemy troops by then. At Kota Bhura, the 5th Division is moving down to the hex east of Kuala Lumpur (mtn hex). and await the 18th division and company pushing down. This base has 147 Aviation Support there along with 2 x Tk Bde finishing unloading. Two more Tk Bde are at sea.

With Empire Ablaze being based on RHS level 6, I get increase range from everything non-fighter, but my fatigue has gone up and morale down. So many of my LBA are resting in and around Saigon. 2/3 of a Sentai has been upgraded to Zeros from Nates. Soon that will be complete and they will move across. After the first two days of un-escorted Nells hitting Singapore, it has remained untouched. Soon, I will have enough Aviation Support on the peninsula and far enough down to shorten the distance and decrease these effects.

I should have about 42 Oscars, 64 Zeros to sweep and then escort about 170 Sallys from relatively short range. I have over 100 Nells, but their morale is down to 50 - 60 range. They will rest until needed. My Sonia, Lily, and Mary will provide close ground support for now.

I didn't get enough Aviation Support over as quickly as I would have liked, but it will be in good shape shortly. [:)]

Comments: 2 BF/EAB with Aviation Support of 60 each will arrive shortly at Truk. However, since I have played the Allies enough for the first few months of the war, I believe John "may" send his American CV's over here. Thus, after KB replenishes her Val and Kates and get CVA Yamato, she will head down here.

Interesting, those Beauforts really are troublesome aren't they? Out of interest, which float fighters are not useful?

The Petes are worthless really BUT I find the Rufes often give me many of my top aces since they can, if you route your ships right, go up against a lot of unprotected bomber raids and with a kill every raid they can quickly become aces... Ah, if only I could transfer them to my carrier-based Zero Daitai after a while.
John Dillworth: "I had GreyJoy check my spelling and he said it was fine."
Well, that's that settled then.

John had his IL-4s here a few days ago. They may have experince only in the 30s, but they carry torpedoes out to 11 hexes and if they become effective, then I will have to take extra measures in the China Sea. Thus, one of my goals in south China is to take Wuchow and eventually, the four bases in a row (Liuchow, Kweilen, Hengchow, and Changsha). This will remove the IL-4 menace and protect Hanoi indirectly. I know this will take time, but its a plan.[;)] The AF is only a level 1, so why keep bombers there??

Damn guerillas are tough enough to beat back my SNLF/NLF being sent out of Hankow. Thus, a division has been divided and will be sent out to deal with them.

Comments: The first objective here is to eliminate and/or push back the guerilla so my LOC are secure. Second is to ensure the Chinese do not take Nanchang. There are enough Chinese LCUs in the SE part of China to do so. Third, will be to move on Changsha from the east and up to Wuchow from Canton. Part of me doesn't want John to feel he can send extra Chinese troops to Burma/India. The northern part of China will be quite for now.

Please note that Hankow is an inland port (3). So, I can get troops there fast if needed. [;)]

Regarding 12.14.41

Why R U sending a unit w/60 avi support 2 Hong Kong?

Regarding gorillas - yeah - I thought they'd be a pain so I am doing the same thing vs GBL. I think GBL likes them damned units because they're such a pain in the 6.

Some I like, but the static ones are a PITA. All they do is give your training units experience and there is nothing I can do about it...[:@]

Economic Update

Post by ny59giants »

Now for some economic news.

The overview - Any base with HI repairing gets everything else turned off for repairs until the HI is done unless there is a major surplus of supplies. Please note that many bases have between 8k and 10k. Thus, no repairs are done. [:@]

Economic Update

Post by ny59giants »

Next is a Global view of the economy.

The HI took a while to get undercontrol, but most of the Merchant Shipbuilding is turned off and some Naval until expansion and/or conquest bring up the HI numbers.

We move onto Air Production.

With this mod, it will take most of December just to get most of my factories repaired, let alone look into the future. As of the 16th, I have 12 factories of what I consider critical airframes that still have over two weeks worth of repairs to complete. Getting supplies to the northern part of Japan and over to Hokkaido will need to improve.

Now down to the docks to check in on our shipbuilders.

The CVA Yamato is sitting at Tokyo awaiting the return of KB which should dock in 2 more days, replace losses from Pearl Harbor and head to....

No ships have been accelerated at this time and I will await the arrival of a few more CVLs over the next few months.

Finally, the "ground pounders."

This is for the next 30 days. For those who understand this economy stuff better than me, please offer any feedback to what I'm doing right and/or wrong. Thanks!!

Some thoughts ...
1.a. I suggested increasing HI in small capacity factories first & in regions with positive Oil/Resources .. I guess you maybe got that advice after the fact. I'd be very watchful of your supply levels in Japan (you're using 275,000 for HI repairs alone & I guess most of the plane expansion (437,000) is there too.

1.b. With 28 Bases on Honshu * 20000 = 560,000 supplies, only producing about 11.5 K supplies/day, you might think about how many factories are repairing (not just the total building). More than 11 factories expanding a day, will result in a total loss overall. Import as necessary.

1.c. Similarly, I've spread my airframe/other manufacture to these other regions where there are supplies.. remember HI is overall not region specific, it gives flexibility.

1.d. I've turned off all repairs to airframes beyond '42, these will change in a month or so, when other things have settled down.

1.e. Need to test about turning off repairs and (maybe effect) on supply AI reallocation ... I'll get back to you about this.

2.
Getting supplies to the northern part of Japan and over to Hokkaido will need to improve.
I've split your cluster to be specific with Hokkaido and Sakhalin (also noticed that you were missing one base on Formosa) ... I plan to transport by sea when needed.

3. see 1.d. plus remember that these Airframe factories upgrade to their "pdu off" setting, so an Oscar I factory will auto upgrade to a Oscar II ... (yes I should have something to quickly show this). So when you are doing research think about it on 2 levels, do I want to try to get it early, what capacity do I want for this updated airframe, how can I save capacity...

4. I'd eventually repair those Vehicle factories too, eventually you may well need more capacity here.

Hope some of this helps ... [;)]
[edit]
5. Just saw LCU's ... they look fine for now, start turning on some reinforcements to troops that you want to TO&E upgrade to, or are losing too much strength. (don't drop below about 1100 Veh Pts)
6. And Ships, yeah, the IJN starts strong, just keep it ticking along for a while.

John wrote that there was suppose to be more happening at Rabaul. A lesson for a Japanese player who chooses to retire KB towards Japan vs. Kwajalein after the attack on Pearl Harbor against an aggressive Allied player.

RE: The Battle of Rabaul, Part 2

Post by Nemo121 »

If he is in range to hit your cripples then he WILL be in range of G4M Bettys if you fly them in today. No matter how fast he runs you'll have ONE day to hit him with G4Ms. So, fly in every G4M you have and if you are lucky you might bag yourself a carrier.
John Dillworth: "I had GreyJoy check my spelling and he said it was fine."
Well, that's that settled then.

Nemo,
I did fly in Nells/Bettys to have 6 Daitai worth at Truk, but none flew. In both of my games, I've changed leaders on a significant part of what I consider critical airframes. (Nell, Betty, Zero).
