No weapons, not able to fight. It was a good game by Ralf - I'm off to wait for AE.

Though I am deeply disenchanted that this long campaign suddenly has come to an end now, certainly I can comprehend Ken´s moving cause to throw the towel. I am quite puzzled that I should have sunk that much of his warships since my intel states not too much battleships, cruisers and destroyers as certain wrecks. Most probably he had alot of his vessels to return to the homeland wharfes for repair & refit. And when these morons at PH doesn´t realize the urgent need for some ships to send down to the hot spot of war then of course that sucks for the commander on site... [:@] He said there are indeed tons of ships ready to go and "imminent" release likelihood is high for months now but nothing is getting thru.
It´s really a funky PBEM game.

Will try to work out kind of some conclusion / analysis of the struggle we fought out from May 1942 till July 1943... May be Ken will contribute something this way too.

What ship commitment level were you playing? I always ask for 200% for both sides otherwise nothing gets sent in 1943.......

Hi Miller,

settings were 120% for the US PacFleet and 200% for the Nihon Kaigun. I don´t understand why PH denies any reinforcements to get thru when my allied opponent has that few ships on map? Does this not advocate for some delivery?

I don't understand why the US damage control was off?  They had the ability...why toggle it off?   [8|]

hmmm...??? We just negotiated these settings. Ken asked me (see opponents wanted threads): "Please set reinforcement level to 200% Japan and 120% Allies.. Make sure auto sub ops is off and set the others any way you want." and so I did.

That these lopsided games that give the Japanese such a huge advantage over the already huge advantage they had in early '42 are repeatedly ending with Japan delivering knock out blows shouldn't really come as any surprise.

I unknowingly allowed myself to be maneuvered into agreeing to several games with settings like this and in every one of them the Japanese are running rampant against a completely impotent American force.

My friend Jamie was the smart one in only agreeing to historical settings with 100% committment for both sides. From now on I'll be doing the same.


I keep being told by my opponents who are enjoying 160% and 200% Japanese committments that eventually I will be trashing them......but what they continue to ignore in that equation is that I have to SURVIVE the knock out punch in order to enjoy that far off heyday.

To be honest Hans, it was my own fault. I got frustrated, angry and probably arrogant. An invasion TF retreated on me and I tried to press on. It was a bad decision and one that if a RL commander made, he would have been sacked. I have sacked myself. If I had just pulled back and reorganized things would have been different. That said, I almost didn't play the first turn when I realized that I had somwhat agreed to 200/120 and Allied Damage off. But, again, I pressed on ( the arrogance ), and it cost me. But Ralf has a replacement player that professes to know much more than I do about the game. It will be interesting to see how he does.

I agreed to a 120% American against a 160% Japanese and now my three carriers are facing eight of the enemies!

A concentration of eight IJN carriers can roam the map at will with complete impunity in July 1942 as the Allied LBA is completely impotent against a concentration of CAP of that magnitude.

as Ken already said, Paul (BigRed) took over this game. Hopefully we´ll bring it around till 1944.
We´re still mid July 1943, and the allied punishment on the Japanese heads increases. He started another bombing campaign in the PNG area. GG and PM get some pounding now, they had been merely unscathed before. Needless to say my CAP could not even think about any kind of "protection". [:@]
After some fumbling to get into the right location hex to launch the highspeed dash in, I managed to sneak into Irau again. My 1CL+2DD met a small allied counterpart with 1CA, 1CL and a lone destroyer. We clashed two times after I achieved initial surprise. Though I received alot of hits some LongLances made it thru... [:D] One of my DDs is probably doomed, the other two combatants will make port with only medium damage. Not too bad for me, especially since it seems the Allies are already short on warships by now.
