NATO turn 11 sent

A mixed turn for the NATO player

- Budapest finally falls after a major infantry push by NATO.

- In Norway NATO forces retreat to Oslo.

- Assault on Ploesti halted because of Major USSR forces spotted in the city.

- An NATO fighter intercept causes USSR air forces to loose 2 fighters, 2 tac bombers and 2 carrier air for a loss of 2 fighters on the NATO side.

- During the USSR turn they cut of my armoured spearheads around Berlin and destroyed them which resulted in the loss of 10 armoured units (ouch!). However during my turn i once again all but envelop Berlin and destroy some USSR infantry manned fortifications that was protecting the city.

- Strategic bombing of Windhoek lays the city in Ruins.

China turn 11 done and send.

US has attacked Chinese fleet with two fleets of carrier, frigates and destroyers, supported by sub groups. Heavy losses for China. No chance to sink US ships by air attack for US has absolut superiority in the air.

Artillery duells between Korea and Japan.

No advance in Burma. Very slow advance of Pakistanian army into India. India gets stronger and might soon throw out the Pakistanian units of their homeland. Bangkok was successfully attacked and is now in Chinese hands. Rebels raised in the Pacific Countries, that joined the war on the side of the western countries.

USA Turn 11 Complete and sent to NATO.

Heavy air strikes in India weaken exhausted Pakistani formations and the Indian Army engages in a series of local counter-attacks destroying or badly damaging several enemy formations.

A mixed turn for the NATO player

- Yugoslavia declares war on NATO and stabs them in the back. Fortunatly NATO have cut of Yugoslavia from the rest of the USSR and armoured columns are diverted against Belgrade.

- Unruly Maoist rebels forces the Pacific countries to join NATO. I dont really understand why but they prepare do defend against possible Chinese invasions.

- On USSR turn they strike again  against the NATO armoured columns surrounding Berlin. Another 10 armours lost. On the flip side NATO intercepters kill of 4 aircraft without losses to themselves.

- Only small ground strikes against USSR forces sticking their heads out.

- NATO airstrikes take out some equipment including 2 trucks, 2 APC, 2 halftrucks, 3 artillery & 2 tanks. It seems clearer and clearer though that the USSR atleast ín the german front has largely abandened the mobile warfare for a more infantry based force. This likely has to do with NATO air dominance. The same thing however has to some degree happened the last 2 turn which have seen some 20 armours lost on the NATO side.

When it comes to gains & losses in production NATO has lost Helsinki (2k), Oslo oil (2k) and Berlin (4k) since the beginning of the game. The loss of Oslo (2k) is more or less certain. NATO has conquered Prague (4k), Budapest (2K), Bucharest (2k) and Sofia (2k).

Interesting developments! I wonder if we could put a few maps together over Europe to compare the different games? Would be fun to see how different they have played out!

Soviet had a hard time in Europe, but hopefully has managed to stabilize the situation. Norway is captured, but the Balkans are having a hard time. A little bit of action in South Africa. South America and middle east wiped out, and nothing at all happening in the far east as far as USSR is concerned.

In Asia the USA is attacking Pakistan quite successfully. Pakistan will soon fall.

Chinese troops still try to find a way out of the mountains to attack the Indien units. Further east all remained quiet. No attacks on Japan by air or sea units only some exchange of artillery across the sea between Korea and Japan.

Maoist rebels in the Pacific stick their needles into NATO skin.

I am next after USSR. Have not yet got the turn, so Appren should still have it.

Some days ago I lost a game ... ehm, delete the last words, please... some days ago Appren and I finished a very interesting game of Russia41. We wanted to start another one with sides changed. Have not yet got the start turn from Appren. He is very reliable and answers turns quickly. So it must be a serious reason, why he can not do turn at the moment. Maybe he is ill, his comp is ill or he has gone sailing at the coast of Somalia (good luck!).

So, lets be patient and use the time to help our wifes baking cockies for christmas.

Quite a long time that Appren is off now. [>:]

So, what to do? Wait and see, whether he will send a message soon? Restart the game with someone else taking USSR? Start any other game?

As this game is paused and Appren and I wanted to start a game of Russia41, that is terminated as well, I have free capacity. So, anyone interested in starting this game or another one (Russia41, GPW or another suggestion)?

I do think we can declare this game dead. A pity. It was fun while it lasted.

I did have a special surprise for the NATO-player that i was very curious to see. But what the heck.

I see that Mavn is looking for a game.

Sorry for not reading forum, been busy, but I am certain I sent my last turn to China, so I think it stopped there? I just checked my email log, and it shows turn 13 sent 6th November, but China apparently did not get it? If people want to play still, I can resend it.

Hurray, Appren is still alive.

Just got the turn, made moves, and sent it to grumpymel. So we are on track again.

It seems as if the files sometimes are not transferred due to their size.

Really a destaster for China.

Edit: Oh, mixed it up with another game. [:D]
My fleet was not as large as I have written. But it got sunk anyway.
