Thanks for the tips on CHS, it makes me wonder is Scott hampered by the same supply situation? Are there other surprises in the system?

In China Scott begins to prob out with his divisions and pushes some guerilla's, also gets held by Chinese divisions, it will be a long slow campaign here, I have cutoff Ichang from supply and moved in force.

Rabaul falls as the 21st division lands and reduces forts to zero and push the troops out at 5-1, In addition another troop convoy passes the island on the west side, probably means business for Port Morseby as it has BB's following, In addition BB's also spotted north of Kavieng!
Would he expose his BB's with just the Ryujo protecting[&:], probably not, we are searching.

History Fact Marblehead was laid down on 4 August 1920 by William Cramp & Son, Philadelphia, Pa.; launched on 9 October 1923

Marblehead was assigned to the Asiatic Fleet from early 1938 until early 1942. During most of that time, as tensions rose over Japan's aggression in China, she cruised through Far Eastern waters in support of U.S. interests. After the Pacific War began in December 1941, Marblehead operated in the Netherlands East Indies as part of a greatly outnumbered Allied naval force. On 24 January 1942 she covered the Battle of Balikpapan, in which U.S. destroyers made a daring and successful attack on Japanese invasion shipping off Borneo.

He has captured Lae, and landed in Buna, will capture tommorrow, the troops at Lae was the NGVR and these were the last arrival in the defense of Rabaul, so it was taken without resistance. With Rabaul, Lae and Buna the next logical target is Port Morseby, I had only Search planes in PM but have just moved in some Hudsons this evening.

Its quiet in the rest of the pacific, I have cleared or chased away all subs near enough to pearl and Johnston harbor to be spotted.
No new movement spotted except occassional ships, The KB and US CV's still remain indiscreet!

Facts
The Le Fantasque class of six large, very fast destroyers (also referred to as the Le Malin class) was ordered under the French naval programme of 1930. They served in World War II for both Vichy France and the Free French Forces.

Jan 15th 1942 180 miles east of Singapore harbor

E. Wanamaker, listens to the steady hum of the engines as his Fokker T.IV slowly leads his formation towards thier goal.

The last few weeks have been a blur as they started out in Palambang, dropping 500lb bombs on the Japanese forces off Borneo. When Japanese Carriers were spotted 240 miles from Singapore his group GVT-12, and also GVT-14 were both transferred to Singapore, not to be alone 16 brewster 33D's of the 2E-VLG-V went to protect them, this did not come easy as the politicians had to get involved. The carriers dissapeared but the last few days has been spent sending torpedo's into helpless Japanese transports bringing in reinforcements at Mersing.

He cannot claim war changing results as his crews are only just getting better, with most having 14 missions already under their belt, they usually hit one to two ships a day. This morning was different as a PBY Catalina had spotted 2 Japanese Carriers just 180 miles to the east.

All planes were scrambled from Singapore and now he was searching the seas below for his targets! Suddenly the radio crackles as the fighters protecting his planes announce Japanese Claude's incoming, the Brewsters tear off and engage, almost the same moment he spots the enemy fleet below, He barks orders for GT-14 to take the CVL Zuiho, while his group will make a run on the BB Ise and CVL Hosho.

The fighters do an excellant job keeping the Claudes away from the torpedo bombers unfortunatly the AA is more fierce and one T.IVa goes down quickly. All planes are able to launch and as they pull away a tall geyser erupts nexts to the BB Ise.

Turning for home he is happy they have done their job, but thinks the CV's were lucky this time.

History fact
The Fokker T.IV was a Dutch torpedo bomber/maritime reconnaissance floatplane of the 1920s and 30s. First flying in 1927, it served with the Dutch Naval Aviation Service in the Dutch East Indies until the remaining aircraft were destroyed during the Japanese invasion in 1942.

Below are the forces involved at Singapore, from the picture you can see a Dutch unit that I landed at Johore on the 17th but he has quickly brought in reinforcements. The Dutch unit was complete when it paid its political dues and loaded onto 3 transports for quick unload, unfortunatly a sub sunk one of the transports the day before landing, and of the troops that landed all where disrupted, or support :0(, It did not give me the option to deliberate attack! Ahh if it wasn't for that sub the Dutch would have grabbed Johore Bahru sp?, as he left it vacant! I fear the dutch will perish soon!

The Boise finally gets into the action!

Well it took long enough but I finally got the Boise in action, at the beginning of the war she either missed targets, or Scotts small CV’s kept interferring. There were several ships landing more troops at Manado and on the third day Boise and company arrive to throw a little party!

It was not enough to stop the fall of Manado, which has been under siege since Dec 7th, but it makes the pain less.

Scott keeps taking the little islands of the Aleutian chain with no resistance from the US, I figure the polar bears are doing enough damage.

Scott has eliminated my small Dutch BN, actually I loaded it up on 3 transports with no supplies to make a quick dash, thus when his sub torpedoed one of the transports, causing it to drop out and eventually sink, combined with landing on hostile beach Johore Baru, all surviving troops were disrupted, since I didn’t take the time to supply these troops they did not undisrupt and Scott flew in Paratroops and finished of the disrupted units. I figured spreading the BN across 3 transports would insure enough undisrupted troops would get ashore, but didn’t calculate that only support would be undisrupted and he would paradrop reinforcements, the good was for a couple of days the battle appears to have stopped supply to Singapore and he stopped bombarding my troops. Actually he also has stopped in Manila also, he might be to low on supplies! He is still sending bombers to bomb singapore, but the ones attacking Manila stopped today.

Overall Feelings
Overall Scott has grown very quiet on his side of the front, I can ony assume it’s a logistics issue. The KGB is nowhere to be found, but I suspect between Kwailean and Truk probably the former as I don’t think he has brought enough fuel to operate far south of Rabaul.

My surface fleets rule in the Borneo area, as there are no nells or betties on patrol and his surface fleet is no where to be seen of late. I spotted 4 BB in Borneo area the Kongo, Haruna did extensive bombarding and attempts to get the POW they probably are resting and the Ise and Hyuga were escorting the Zuiho and Hosho they were last seen headed to Siagon.

When the Ryujo was spotted near Port Morseby scouts said BB’s were in company a guess would be 1 at least and the KB should have 2BB’s with it. Thus 7 of the 10 probably accounted for so far in the war.

I also don’t see the usual large number of Sally’s or Lillys about, I am thinking Scott may be a fuel down initiative opponent who may be conserving fuel, planes for later years.

Regardless whatever he has tried for he has taken so far except Manila and Singapore and I believe both those areas may be low on supplies from his side. My troops are still eating steaks and going to the local red light districts. (Moral is HIGH).

The next 2 months will determine the most as soon he should be ready to flex his muscles again.

History Fact (Japan gets the Boise in the end)

USS Boise (CL-47) was a United States Navy Brooklyn-class light cruiser. The cruiser was named for Boise, the capital city of the state of Idaho. Boise was launched 3 December 1936.

Service in the Argentine Navy (1951-1978)
She was sold to Argentina 11 January 1951 along with her sister USS Phoenix, where they were commissioned as the ARA Nueve de Julio ("9 July", Argentina's Independence Day) and ARA General Belgrano respectively. During her years as an Argentinian warship she took part of the so called Revolución Libertadora, shelling some oil depots and other targets around the coastal city of Mar del Plata, on September 19, 1955. She remained in service with the Argentine Navy until 1978, when she was decommissioned and towed to Japan for scrapping.

Just as we ended the Jan 21st with my comments about the KB not having enough fuel to go south of Rabaul, then it shows up North of Noumea shadowing his invasion force of 3 SNLF's. The CL Leander and Achilles were in port and fought a brave battle with the transports during the night but as daylight arrived the KB in all its glory made both into future fish homes. It also put under an AVD I had in port.

The troops landed and he easily pushed out the French! who were defending the base. On the 26th the transports were seen leaving and the KB was heading back north

History Fact
The Leander class was a class of eight light cruisers built for the Royal Navy in the early 1930s that saw service in World War II. They were named after mythological figures, and all ships were commissioned between 1933 and 1936. The three ships of the second group were later transferred to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and renamed after Australian cities.

Leander Loaned to New Zealand, commissioned as HMNZS Leander in September 1941. At the Battle of Kolombagara, Leander was heavily damaged by a Long Lance torpedo, causing many casualties, and sending the ship to repairs for two years.

Scotts ships hit occasional minefields at his ports, more nuiscance then anything, also my DD's catch some subs around Pearl but at distance, Scott has CV's south of Borneo picking of some transports, and appears CV Ryujo may be north of borneo as we pick up a transport fleet inbound possibly heading for Palembang, 3 to 4 days out.

More bombings of Rangoon and Manila continue, the KB appears past Rabaul probably headed to truk if not there.
He has CV and some BB's SE of Singapore, could be headed to Palembang, all forces on alert!
