The rapid assult by germany on all fronts has caught the West flatfooted. Spain has already fallen and Churchill is furious with his army commanders. The only thing that has kept him from firing all of them is the successfull campaign in Scandinavia. Which has finally seen sweden and Oslo liberated. Olso is a smoking ruin though and will take months to rebuild.
The fighting in the balkens and greece continues but the situation is fragile.
The Royal Navy has complete control of the Atlantic for now and Churchill has sent a special envoy to the USA asking for help.

the west is holding on in greece and the balkans but just barely.
 supply is a huge issue and the successfull blitzkrieg by the germans has allmost all of europe in german hands and the west is reeling.

But I'm having a hard time keeping up with when it is in the game.
If not too much work, could you put at the beginning of the post what month year you're in?

we just finished turn april of 1941.
 
everyone is at war except for japan/china (i think) japan hasnt played its blitz card yet but will have to in a couple turns or lose it. ( I imagine he is being smart and keeping the USA out of the game as long as possible.)
 
germany has rampaged through europe with stunning success.
the only success for the west so far is reclaiming Scandanavia.
 
The army saved from France has been a mixed blessing its gobbling up so much supply that it has kept the west crippled just trying to feed it. (bunch of hungry frenchies)But it was able to free Scandanavia  and will hopefully defend gibralter.
(this version dosnt have the extra production centers in england and north africa so supply is a huge issue for the west.)

the Royal navy sinks a 3 sub wolfpack in the English channel with no losses.
greece and the balkans are still holding on.

Japan attacks Pearl Harbor !!!!
The USA has awoken and the cries for vengence shake the very ground.

Admiral Halsey upon entering Pearl Harbor aboard the Enterprise and seeing the devastation was quoted saying "By the time we get finished with them the Japanese Language will only be spoken in hell" (true quote BTW)

Winston Churchill upon hearing of the attack on Pearl Harbor replied "Thank God, we are saved" (another true quote allthough I may not have got it exactly right word for word)

McArther in Manilla is in big trouble and was heard saying "If we dont get help soon we are going down faster than a $2 hoe at a shriners convention" (not a true quote [:D])

The attack on pearl was the single biggest mistake of the war, the instant the first bullet was fired the war was lost for the Axis, not only because it brought the USA into the war BUT because it did so in such a way as to unite the country like nothing else in history. It filled every man woman and child with a desire to win so strong that nothing was going to stop them.

My mother having never worked a day in her life went to work as a Draftsman and wound up working on a top secret project so secret they didnt even know what it was, she worked 10,12, 16 hour days. Not because she was forced too but because she wanted too. after the war she found out that she had been working on part of the Atomic Bomb.

It was this kind of effort that won the war, not the military might alone. Our military wouldnt have been near as strong if not for the efforts of the women left back home who entered the work force and took the place of the millions of men fighting. What they accomplished is just as heroic and astounding as anything the military accomplished.

for example
the Liberty ships built during the war where the cargo ships that where the life line between the USA and England. the first one took 244 days to build by the wars end the fastest one built took 4 DAYS and 15 1/2 hours !!! and built largely by women.

Thats astonishing and thats why the allies won the war and why the axis never had a chance. It was the industrial might of the USA that was the deciding factor of the allies victory, which was accomplished mostly by women. They worked like maniacs untill they all but dropped and my mother was one of them.

Admiral Yamamoto said " I fear all we have done is awoken a sleeping giant"

but what he didnt know,is that it was a Female giant.

the Philliphines are lost and no one knows if MacArthur is dead,alive or captured.
 
belgrade is soon to be surrounded.
Greece is hanging on.
 
The good news is that the Royal Navy successfully trapped the italian fleet off of the coast of Greece near Athens and has ravaged it in a heated battle.
 
the Italians have lost 3 destroyers,2 cargos,2 cruisers and 2 battleships so far, the surviving battleship and carrier are attempting to flee but are being pursued by the combined fleets of the RN which has only lost 1 cruiser and 4 carrier based aircraft.
 
The west now have full control of the Atlantic and the Med.

That's quite a telling and touching tribute to women in your post above. Good for you.
Not only is what you say accurate, but it's also the case that more than any other factor, it was women entering the workforce in droves in WWII that was the main impetus behind women's rights movement of the later 20th century.
Also important to note that the exact same thing occurred in UK as well!

I find the story about the liberty ships to be on of the most amazing things in WWII.
 
its utterly astonishing how much they improved the production times of them.

The Italian Navy was completely destroyed the last BB and Carrier where trapped and couldnt escape.
Japan continues to advance through the Dutch east Indies. Burni is lost and Burnia (SP ?) is under attack.
 
it looks like things are shaping up for a big battle near Gibralter.
England and the USA are still struggling to get their supply situation sorted out.
 
Russia did take Helsinkie but not much other news from that front. (looking at the map it dosnt look like Germany has been able to advance very much so Russia seems to be holding on ok.) I wish we had some news reports from that area.
 
Up to this point in the game Germanys play has been brilliant and caught me completely offgaurd. 
 
I wasnt used to this version of the scenario and the missing 2 extra supply centers in england threw englands supply situation into chaos which is only just now starting to sort out..
 
Also The lack of any production centers in north africa ( in this version) pretty much makes that area a usless area to fight for and makes the defense of greece and the Suez canal extremely difficult. There is only India available for production and its far away and too small to provide for that area and the east indies not to mention itself.
 
My point is ......
the later versions seem to be better for the west with those added supply and production centers. Up to this point in the game I have hardly been able to produce anything but supply and limited PP.

Hey, these reports are great! I thought I would get email noifications, but I haven't been getting them, so I assumed no-one was posting.
 
Germany is presented with a range of tricky choices at this stage. The loss of Scandinavia has allowed Germany's enemies to unite, as well as consolidating Allied control of the Baltic and, therefore, the Atlantic. No-doubt there will be an air compaign coming from the UK, which has convincing forces in both Gibralter and Greece, and has, as we have seen, already annihilated the Italian Fleet . Meanwhile Turkey and Sweden - both in crucial positions - remain neutral, and a large bear with a scrubbing-brush moustache is stirring irritably in the East. Invasion may be expected at any moment on any of a number of fronts.
 
Winter is coming. Upgrade? Resupply? Build production infrastructure? Produce more air and naval assets? (Or is this throwing good money after bad?) Perhaps make an unexpected move on a minor front, remembering Sun Tzu's dictum regarding water, and everyone's advice on surprise.

...ALLIES INVADE SPAIN...
The Associated press recieved a wire just moments ago with the announcement that the Allies have invaded Spain !!

Information is limited but a member of the supreme command who didnt want to be identified reported that the British 1st Army (supported by the Royal Navy) has landed on the coast of northern Spain at a sleepy little villiage called Bilboa. All reports are that the landing was successfull and the army is moving out to secure their objectives. Little is known about this 1st Army but speculation is that it was formed in secrecy around the remanents of the French and British forces rescued from France last year. We can only assume that this landing is somehow connected with the fight for gibralter.

No information was forthcoming from Downing street or the Royal Family. Winston Churchill was seen flashing a V for Victory sign as he was hurried into a car presumed to be headed to Parliment.

Chief of Staff. General George C. Marshall spoke briefly to reporters as he entered the Pentagon saying " The Axis powers wanted a war... well they have got one. This is just the begining and we will not stop till victory is ours. Keep our Armed forces in your prayers"

In other News

Greece is holding firm !!
Reports say that the Allied Army there has dug in across the greek penisula and are ready to give the Germans a black eye.

In the south pacific Jakarta is under heavy attack and no reports of the situation on the ground have been recieved.

Still no news about General MacArthurs fate.
Last reports are that he and his family boarded a PT Boat just hours before the Philippines fell and hasnt been seen or heard from since.
