I just ordered a US game title via Chips&Bits, now guess the amount of the cheapest shipping possibility to Germany ;)

Hey David did you just feel that......

That was a pat on the back man.

Don't sweat the negativity man.

Just like politics, you will go nuts trying to please everyone all the time.

Please who you can, the rest, well let them complain.

Last time I looked, I wasn't "entitled" to anything from Matrix.

Many ways to skin a cat, and some of us just have to look harder for that way.

Sure I bet you can reeeeeeealy swing a deal for players that live down the street from where you live.
But it's just plain stupid for someone not anywhere easy to reach, to expect identical service.

Shipping costs and more....

well, for uv or (hopefully not much later WitP) i want these games, urgently and i will pay the price.

For the comment of my angry german, well, i think some point are unseen.

1.) the price of a matrix game is okay
2.) the shipping costs for non-americans are (i don´t know why) extreme high
3.) the total costs for a customer to buy that game is extreme high
4.) many customers don´t buy the game = the game don´t get the success it should have (my opinion)

So, besides the angry feelings about robbery (from the shipping costs) we should think about success, for matrix (to make money) and (in my eyes equally important) for us, the customers....

I want wargames but sadly most guys today want some naked girls jumping through a dungeon (how booooooooooooring).

If we didn´t buy these games, they will not be developted. But, if we had to pay to 3rd parties 20+ $ for nothing (i think that was the 12,99 for one cd), i think twice.

Maybe it would be a smart idea, if matrix would "produce" the game in a country , which had a good and cheap delivery system and send the cd´s from there.... maybe it would be even cheaper for us buyers ?

On the other hand, i could use a relative (my aunt) to order and ship the game to me - but i´m to lazy, i will buy it in one of the online stores in germany, even if i pay extreme shipping costs. But other people will stay away, and these people are lost to the wonderful games of matrix.....

Now, for this very smart post, i want a full version of UV yesterday delivered to me
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

hehe, couldn´t resist

Tried to preorder UV today- guess what: the shipping costs are half as high as the product!!!

Dont come me with shipping costs are so high in the US- I bought many games in US stores and the shipping was around 10$ - 15$ highest. But 25 - 50 $ for SHIPPING is plain evil!

Well, I will try to get your nice product elsewhere.

Here ist the Amazon price for shipping from USA to Europe:

$4.99

That misses the additional $3.99 per item and is "Standard International Shipping" an option we do not have cause it would not allow tracking. Also you can defintly not compare Amazon´s special contracts with UPS or USPS and ours.

Here are the shipping prices from eb-games (a huge reseller for games) to Germany:

$26.00 per Shipment under $100.00
$41.00 per Shipment $100.00 or more

and they have only one option for shipping over here ;)

Has anyone out there tried going to the USPS site on the web and check to see what the cost of shipping to Germany is? (www.usps.gov) Now, Matrix isn't large enough to get real good deals from the USPS as to shipping, so I would say that their costs are very close to "retail".

I went out and checked, for a package of 8 oz. in weight (Global Express Mail (EMS)), the charges are $23. That's what the USPS charges, no one else. You have to go for this level to be able to get tracking for the package. This is not something that Matrix has any control over.

A fairly quick perusal of the foreign distributors came up with this:

Matrix . . . . . . . . . . ~$68.50
Duchet . . . . . . . . . .~$64.50 *
Mediamailonline . . . ~$73.00
Chips 'n Bits . . . . . .~$78.00
Ronald Rahn . . . . . .~$61.00 **

* Assuming registered & urgent shipping charge of £4.
** Assuming price for UV is same as La Grande Armee

Now, say I bought the item and mailed it to Germany, then the following postage would be charged (with no tracking capability or insurance):

If I can send it as an airmail letter (4-7 days): $4.00
If I can send it as Global Priority Mail - Flat-rate Envelope (large) (3-5 days): $9.00
If I send it Airmail Parcel Post (4-7 days): $14.00

So, total cost (via me), would be from $56.00 - $66.00 in total costs and something like 8-14 days for delivery.

Not a whole lot of difference (looks to be cheaper to go with Rahn if'n my assumptions are correct). If you don't like the shipping cost, the ones to talk to are the USPS, not Matrix.

This is just a rough estimate, don't quote me or anything. :D :D

My 2 bits worth.

Blah Blah Blah insert whine here Blah Blah Blah.

It costs my friend in Texas 2 bucks to send a cd anywhere in the world she **** well wants.

Anyone purchasing a cd from the US and paying more than a local US citizen (plus 2 bucks), is just not very bright period end of sentence.

Said it before, will say it again. If you don't want to pay shipping costs, don't. I know I don't.

Basic no frills mail, gotta love it.

True enough. Wasn't sure whether there was any more to the game this time round than just the CD. So, I was conservative.

The packaging that I used here as a test piece turned out to be UPS rather than USPS (and with UPS you need the extra padding :D :D :D).

Suddenly it cost $27

Try amazon.co.uk or amazon.de

I got LV from one of them for 50-60 sFR (I think, at least it was the cheapest alternative I could find)
