1792, 23yrs, Advanced Econ, No glory highest at the end wins, 10% attrition (Wellington)

Montesaurus = Turkey
IW = Russia
Andrew = Sweden
Timurlain = Prussia
Mus = Austria
Franck = Spain
Kingmaker = England
B2 = france

IW is the france expert, but I would asume you set up using the above (your call re Combat difficulty level) as you would for a solo game, ie france = human, the above criteria, do your turn, 'End turn', then send a copy of your files ***TurDone.sve & ***TurDone.rep off to everybody listed, thats it, you only do it once.

Then Spain takes over, we all do our turn, 'End turn' and send our ***TurDone files to Franck who merges them via 'Combine PBEM files', does his turn, 'End turn' and sends the new, Turn***All.sve & Turn***.rep files back out to everybody.

Welcome back B2, hope you had a nice vacation.

The way I set up the game was to set all of the nations to human controlled. If it works or not without doing that, I have no idea. The files you create when you start the game will be 'Turn000_1FraDone.sve' and 'Turn000_1FraDone.rep' which you send to everyone else and then as Peter said Spain will take care of receiving and sending the files from there. Basically that denotes France turn 0 place 1 (as in the order nations take their turn).

I might be setting up an hotmail account just for the game (will keep my own hotmail account free of tremendous traffic). And by giving the password to all you can:
A)go delete your turn if you made mistake and resend
B)If I'm ever away and ask someone to play my turn you'll have access to all the files. No need to give you my account's password and all.

I'm excited to get this going.
Just to let you know my schedule I live in Iowa, USA which is central time. So, Germany would be about 8 hours ahead of me.
My work schedule is Fri-Sat-Sun 6:30 PM to 7:00AM. So, if I get the turn later today, I might not get it done till Sat am, Central time. If it hasn't arrived by the time I get home from work I'll get to it after waking up.
I'm looking forward to being the Sultan, and seeing what Glory I can accrue for Turkey!

Good call Bill, as we are all presumably sort of human it would make good sence to let the AI know it stands alone, Sheeee, benifit of a University education and I still miss the "Cor blimmy bleeding" obvious! [8|]

Monte, just to reiterate in case you missed it in all the Chat, there is a 48hr turn round on these games ( sooner = better) but real life things can get in the way occasionally so in that case just pop a note here on the MB with your excuses; Warning there is a serious chance of heavy hits to your "I'm a Good guy!" status if the reasons arn't considered valid [:D]

23 years!?!?!? Wow. I have a feeling by the time we finish the last turn of this, WCS will have grown to a dominant global energy provider!  That DOES seem like a long time. I guess we will just assume that if people come and go that it represents changing rulers/political coalitions within the governments.

Regarding combat difficulty being the game makers call, can we put combat difficulty on "normal" so that the AI Minors dont have super troops?

Looking forward to getting this game going.

The other 1792 game is certainly moving slow...

23 years isn't that long...

3,5 turns a week (if everything works fine)...
12 turns every 3 weeks
23*3=69 weeks

I have played a whole WiF game using vassal by PBEM... that took close too 2 years!!!! Playing once everyday if possible

Just to warn:
1-haven't got the turns yet
2-I might take a bit more time to play my first turn (I want to experiment with raising taxe/lowering taxes. I'll do that Sunday evening). My turn, if I have your files will be done on sunday then.

Okay guys. Before we get started, I think I want to recommend one house rule.

I spent the last day or so confirming the following...

As you know the PBEM mode doesn't have events. Which means that France basically doesn't go through its revolution. And from what I understand France doesn't get its good leaders either--at any point in the game.  Am I correct on these points?

If I am, then I would like to strongly recommend the house rule that France and Austria and Prussia start off in a state of peace.

Thoughts?  Then I will get the first turn out.

B2 if you had read the posts on this thread you would have noticed in the very 1st post 1792 No frills game, i.e. no bidding, no Mods (so no napoleon) played just as the scenario was designed. (my underline).

If you are having probs playing france please just say so and maybe one of the other guys will take it over for you, but please make it soon as I'm sure we are all anxious to get this game underway.

Yes, positions were just ideas... Since you weren't here I gave you the nation that was left.

I have no problems trying to play france. On top of that I believe that no events should mean no unrest and all for you to wich make you stronger at start. I also think that you shouldn't have as much problems with coalitions. Since you'll probably not be the biggest threat all game ;P

And you got the best ally just south of you... (hey GB I'm your best ally too!)

Not sure about the no unrest, the rules quit clearly state that in PBEM "Historical" events don't happen eg the historical revolts, famines (got caught with one of those as Russia in a solo game, Sheeee they're devistating!) etc. but 'Unrest' will still be generated in the game through low NM loss of GP etc, (just so there's no misunderstanding).

Well, I am here for fun and thrills, troubleshooting, and note taking. So let's get to it. I am downloading the patch now.

(I have a secret to admit...I actually am so busy with another project that I don't take the time to read every word in every thread I get involved in everywhere on the Internet right now. I haven't even had time to play with the patch yet--even though I have been dying to get my hands on it for over a month! )

So I am setting up the game and I see Mus recommended setting the combat difficulty to "normal." I will assume that is what we will do.

Since there won't be a revolution and I am not getting my generals, I guess we will assume this is an alternate history.
 
France has quashed the rebellion and its people have been forced to accept their King on the throne again. As such, there is no need for Austrian and Prussian intervention to save my head! I appreciate the offers of help from Berlin and Vienna, but the emergency is over and now we can all go back to peace. I have offered Austria a cease fire this turn and will do so with Prussia next turn. Long live the King!
 
We look forward to positive trade relations with our friends on the other side of the channel as well.
